See all opportunities at VitriVax, Inc: HERE The Research Associate in Formulation Research and Development on the Product Research and Development (PRD) team will work closely with Formulation Scientists to help design formulations that stabilize active pharmaceutical ingredients within ALTA™ products. The Research Associate will routinely help prepare, screen, and characterize formulations for ALTA™ products. The Research Associate will also help support API testing throughout product development and stability testing. This role reports to a Scientist within the Formulation team and will work with a team of scientists and research associates for training and study execution. This is a full-time position, located in Boulder, Colorado.

Description

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Works both collaboratively and independently with the formulation team to prepare formulations which promote API stability and meet spray drying and ALD coating requirements.
  • Assists in formulation preparation and performs routine testing to measure the physical properties of the designed formulations (i.e. viscosity, density, etc.)
  • Works collaboratively within the PRD team to perform API testing throughout formulation, manufacturing, and stability testing.
  • Prepares laboratory stock solutions and proactively manages reagent and consumable inventory to support the PRD team.
  • Clearly communicates and collaborates within PRD and cross-functionally between departments to investigate processes and products.
  • Learns and performs established procedures and methods, documents research activities, and summarizes and reports results in a timely manner.
  • Generates and/or assists in writing study plans, reports, and test methods.
  • Operates laboratory equipment and instrumentation by following operating instructions, troubleshooting instrumentation and method issues, and performing routine preventative maintenance to ensure that methods and equipment are fit for purpose.
  • Takes the initiative to search published literature to learn and creatively address challenges
  • Supports analytical activities within the PRD as needed
  • Maintains laboratory notebook and equipment logs consistent with VitriVax policies
  • Adheres to all Company policies and safety guidelines


Education and Experience:

  • Must be able to perform the responsibilities and duties listed above.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in pharmaceutical sciences, chemistry, biochemistry, chemical and biological engineering, or related scientific discipline with at least 2 years of industry experience is preferred.
  • Experience with formulation development particularly for proteins, peptides, and/or oligonucleotides is preferred.
  • Experience with a range of basic plate-based assays (i.e. ELISA, Ribogreen, BCA), electrophoresis, spectroscopic-based techniques, and particle sizing is beneficial.
  • Proficient in the use of statistical analysis methods and standard office tools like Excel and Word.

This position may be filled at the Research Associate I, II or III level. The level will be determined by the applicant’s experience and alignment with current and future responsibilities.
  • RA II -III– Bachelor’s +2 years industry experience range $75,000 - $100,000
