KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS:
- Responsible for overseeing and executing the production process for microbiological culture media, dilution media, and other laboratory reagents including but not limited to buffers and stock solutions.
- Responsible for maintaining inventory of laboratory consumables, including receiving/stocking and coordination of ordering needs with the Laboratory Manager and Relations Officer (LMRO).
- Responsible for laboratory upkeep and maintenance.
- Responsible for the operation and upkeep of laboratory equipment.
- Responsible for keeping current on all departmental SOPs.
- Responsible for promoting a culture of safety and compliance within the R&D Laboratory by always donning appropriate PPE and adhering to all laboratory safety protocols.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Preparation of microbiological culture media, dilution media, buffers, stock solutions, and other reagents pursuant to company SOPs.
- Entering data pertaining to laboratory inventory, checklist completion, and reagent preparation into relevant laboratory databases.
- Receiving of incoming laboratory reagents and coordination with the LMRO to add all new SDS sheets and other relevant documentation to the laboratory Chemical Hygiene Plan pursuant to company SOPs.
- Receiving of incoming laboratory consumables, including the stocking of consumables in the laboratory workspace and the storing of excess supplies in designated storage areas pursuant to company SOPs.
- Completion of tasks detailed in daily, weekly, and monthly laboratory maintenance checklists pursuant to company SOPs.
- Execution of daily, weekly, monthly and/or annual maintenance checklists for laboratory equipment relevant to media preparation, including analytical balances, pH probes, and autoclaves.
- Adherence to all safety-related policies and procedures including the donning of appropriate PPE, strict compliance with labelling requirements and other components of the BiOWiSH Chemical Hygiene Plan.
- Uphold all company policies including Anti-Trust (and international equivalent) compliance and compliance with EH&S policies.
- Timely review of all departmental SOPs following approved company processes.
- Contribute to BiOWiSH initiatives as a member of the global team.
- Other duties as directed by Management.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Associate level degree in related science field (minimum) or Bachelor of Science (preferred) degree in biology, chemistry, or any relevant natural science.
- Minimum 1 year of relevant wet laboratory experience.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft tools (Excel, word, Outlook).
- Strong written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:
- Work is performed in-person in a laboratory work environment.
- The candidate must be able to lift up to 40lbs in the course of receiving shipments of laboratory consumables.
- The candidate must be willing to engage in repetitive laboratory processes, such as aliquoting of microbiological media and diluents, for most of the workday.
- Minimal exposure to physical risk.
LOCATION:
- Role will be based in Covington, Kentucky at the BiOWiSH R&D Innovation Centre.
TERM OF EMPLOYMENT:
Pay: $44,000.00 per year
