The Department of Chemistry is seeking a Research Associate Professor.

A Research Associate Professor is responsible for leading and managing research programs and projects. This role requires outstanding research skills and expertise, the ability to mentor and manage a team of scientists, and effective communication and collaboration with external partners and stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications
  • PhD or equivalent degree in Physics, Chemistry, or another relevant field.
  • Experience in scientific research, with a demonstrated track record of leading and managing research programs and projects.
  • Minimum of 10 years of leading a research team and supervising undergraduate/graduate students and postdocs.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Proven expertise and demonstrated track record (as evidenced by publications, patents, and/or other accomplishments) in the specific research areas including Photonics (steady-state and time-resolved optical spectroscopy, microscopy and imaging; confocal and multiphoton microscopy; multispectral/hyperspectral optical imaging; nonlinear optical spectroscopy and imaging techniques), Biophotonics (optical bioimaging of living systems in vitro and in vivo), Phototheranostics (Optical imaging guided photobiomodulation, Photothermal/Photodynamic Therapy in vitro and in vivo), Nanomedicine (design and development of nanomaterials as drug/gene nanocarriers and imaging probes for optical/medical imaging). General expertise in photophysics and photochemistry is essential.
  • Experience in writing NIH and NSF type grant proposals.
  • Effective leadership and management skills, with experience mentoring and managing teams of scientists in a research environment.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with external partners and stakeholders.
  • Excellent critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills, with the ability to design and execute complex experiments and data analysis.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and deliver high-quality results under tight deadlines.
