Research Publication Specialist (All Academic Fields | Experienced & Training Track)

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are hiring a Research Publication Specialist to manage the complete lifecycle of academic manuscript submissions across all research fields — medical sciences, engineering, social sciences, business, humanities, natural sciences, and more.

You will handle journal submissions, manuscript formatting, communication with journal editors, revision management, and the rebuttal process for research papers targeting peer-reviewed journals.

We are open to TWO types of candidates:

Track A — Experienced (Immediate Impact):
You have published papers, managed journal submissions, or worked in research publication quality assurance. You can start independently from day one.

Track B — Training Track (High Potential):
You have strong research exposure (thesis, FYP, research projects) and excellent academic writing skills, but need training in publication workflows. We will provide intensive training.

Manuscript Preparation & Formatting:

• Format research manuscripts according to specific journal guidelines across all disciplines (APA, Harvard, Chicago, Vancouver, IEEE, MLA, etc.)
• Structure manuscripts: abstract, introduction, methodology, results/findings, discussion, conclusion, references
• Manage citation and reference formatting using EndNote, Mendeley, Zotero, or RefWorks
• Prepare tables, figures, appendices, and supplementary materials to journal specifications
• Ensure compliance with journal-specific word counts, formatting requirements, and submission guidelines

Journal Submission Process:

• Submit manuscripts through various journal submission portals (ScholarOne, Editorial Manager, Elsevier EES, Springer, SAGE Track, etc.)
• Write professional cover letters, author contribution statements, and conflict of interest declarations
• Select appropriate journals based on scope, impact factor, and manuscript fit
• Manage submission documentation and track status across multiple manuscripts

Revision & Rebuttal Management:

• Interpret peer reviewer feedback and coordinate required revisions
• Prepare detailed point-by-point rebuttal letters addressing reviewer comments
• Track revision deadlines and manage resubmission process
• Handle reject-and-resubmit scenarios — reformatting and resubmitting to alternative journals
• Follow up with journal editorial offices on submission status and queries

Quality Assurance:

• Review manuscripts for formatting consistency, citation accuracy, and adherence to guidelines
• Check references for completeness and correct formatting
• Ensure all submission requirements are met before final submission
• Maintain quality standards across all publications

Communication & Coordination:

• Correspond professionally with journal editors and editorial offices internationally
• Manage multiple manuscripts simultaneously at different stages (submission, review, revision, acceptance)
• Coordinate with internal research team regarding required changes
• Maintain detailed tracking system for all submissions

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FORTRACK A — EXPERIENCED CANDIDATESMust Have:

Experience & Publications:

• Published 2+ research papers in peer-reviewed journals (as author or co-author) OR
• 1–3 years experience in research publication coordination, manuscript editing, or academic publishing OR
• Worked in Quality Assurance for research publications, academic journals, or scholarly publishing companies

Technical Expertise:

• Expert knowledge of multiple citation styles (APA, Harvard, Vancouver, IEEE, Chicago, MLA)
• Advanced proficiency with reference management software (EndNote, Mendeley, Zotero)
• Experienced with journal submission portals and manuscript tracking systems
• Deep understanding of peer review process, revision cycles, and rebuttal procedures

Educational Background:

• Master's degree (MPhil, MS, MA, MBA, etc.) in any field OR
• Bachelor's degree in any field with significant publication experience

Communication:

• Excellent English — academic writing and formal correspondence level
• Experience communicating with international journal editors and reviewers

Salary for Track A: PKR 65,000 – 80,000 (negotiable based on publication portfolio)

TRACK B — TRAINING TRACK CANDIDATESMust Have:

Research Exposure:

• Completed thesis, FYP, or research project during studies (in any field) OR
• Worked as research assistant or participated in research activities OR
• MPhil/MS/PhD student with ongoing research work

Academic Writing:

• Strong academic English writing — demonstrated through thesis, research reports, or academic papers
• Familiarity with research paper structure and scientific writing
• Basic understanding of citation and referencing

Technical Skills:

• Advanced MS Word (styles, formatting, track changes, tables, figures)
• Basic familiarity with reference management tools (EndNote, Mendeley, or Zotero)
• Comfortable learning new software and online platforms

Educational Background:

• Bachelor's degree in any field (sciences, social sciences, humanities, business, engineering, etc.)
• OR currently enrolled in MPhil/MS/PhD

Professional Qualities:

• Extreme attention to detail — publication work requires zero-error accuracy
• Self-motivated learner — willing to invest time in mastering publication workflows
• Professional communication skills
• Able to work independently after training period

Salary for Track B: PKR 50,000 – 65,000 (with increment after training completion)

NICE TO HAVE (Both Tracks):

• Experience across multiple academic disciplines (medical, engineering, social sciences, business, etc.)
• Familiarity with impact factor, journal indexing (Scopus, Web of Science, PubMed)
• Understanding of open access publishing, article processing charges (APCs)
• Knowledge of publication ethics and plagiarism checking (Turnitin, iThenticate)
• Experience with statistical reporting in research papers
• Background in academic editing or proofreading
• Multilingual capability (if handling non-English manuscript translation)

TRAINING & GROWTH PATH (For Track B Candidates)

Months 1–3 (Foundation Training):

• Learn journal submission portals across disciplines (ScholarOne, Editorial Manager, etc.)
• Master multiple citation styles and formatting requirements
• Shadow experienced team on manuscript submissions
• Practice formatting across different research fields
• Learn reference management tools comprehensively

Months 4–6 (Supervised Practice):

• Handle submissions independently with review and feedback
• Manage communication with journals under supervision
• Prepare rebuttal letters with guidance
• Track 3–5 manuscripts simultaneously across different stages

Months 7+ (Full Independence):

• Independently manage complete manuscript lifecycle
• Handle complex revisions, rejections, and resubmissions
• Work across multiple academic disciplines
• Mentor new team members
• Potential co-authorship on publications
