Research Scientist - 1 (Medicinal Chemistry)

Minimum Qualification:

  • M.Sc. in Organic Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, or a closely related field
  • PhD in organic chemistry / medicinal chemistry
  • Postdoc in organic chemistry / Medicinal chemistry (Optional)
  • 0-4 years of hands-on experience in working on bench, preferably in an industry


Responsibilities:

  • Design and execute synthetic routes to prepare small molecules for drug discovery programmes
  • Track SAR and optimizing potency, selectivity, and properties of small molecules for research programs
  • Perform purification and structural characterization of compounds
  • Troubleshoot synthetic problems and optimize reaction conditions
  • Providing mentorship and guidance to junior colleagues
  • Maintain accurate lab records and contribute to technical reports
  • Collaborate with analytical teams as needed
  • Providing input on intellectual property activities


Technical and Soft Skills:

  • Skilled in multistep organic synthesis, reaction optimization, and compound isolation
  • Proficient in chromatography (TLC, column, flash), spectroscopic analysis (NMR, LC-MS, HPLC), and purification techniques (recrystallization, precipitation, others)
  • High level of creativity and productivity with strong synthetic chemistry problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated excellence in organic synthesis, conversant with the current literature
  • Effective oral and scientific/technical writing communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
  • Commitment to lab safety and adherence to safety protocols
  • Familiarity with reaction databases (e.g., Reaxys, SciFinder)
  • Proficiency using MS Office applications is required
