Position Summary

Lifeloc Technologies, a leader in commercial and personal breath alcohol testing technology, is seeking a Research Technician II to support the research, development, validation, and commercialization of next-generation diagnostic and drug detection technologies. This role will contribute directly to the advancement of innovative point-of-care diagnostic systems as they progress toward verification, manufacturing readiness, regulatory support, and commercial launch.

The Research Technician II will work closely with project managers, scientists, and engineers to execute laboratory studies, support assay and reagent development, assist with validation and QA/QC activities, and aid in manufacturing scale-up efforts. Following commercialization, this position will continue supporting manufacturing operations, product improvements, sustaining engineering, quality initiatives, and ongoing product development activities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Support research, development, and testing activities for antibody-based diagnostic assays and associated instrumentation
• Execute experimental studies and testing plans in accordance with approved protocols, procedures, and timelines.
• Prepare reagents, buffers, samples, consumables, and test materials for laboratory studies.
• Collect, organize, analyze, and document experimental data clearly and accurately.
• Support assay development, optimization, verification, and validation activities
• Assist with QA/QC activities, including reagent testing, process verification, and documentation.
• Aid in human verification/validation studies and external beta testing activities
• Support process development, reagent scale-up, manufacturing transfer, and packaging activities
• Maintain laboratory equipment, instruments, inventory, and general laboratory organization.
• Follow and help develop standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and laboratory documentation.
• Support cleanroom and controlled-environment manufacturing activities as required.
• Communicate project updates, findings, and technical observations to project teams and management.
• Assist with troubleshooting technical, reagent, assay, and instrumentation issues.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives supporting product quality, manufacturability, and reliability.
• Following commercialization, support sustaining engineering, manufacturing operations, quality initiatives, and ongoing experimental development efforts

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, Biomedical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline with 3–5 years of relevant laboratory experience
• OR
• Master’s degree in a related scientific discipline with 1–3 years of applicable laboratory experience
• Strong laboratory skills and proficiency with standard laboratory practices and instrumentation
• Ability to independently execute laboratory procedures and testing protocols
• Strong organizational, documentation, and communication skills
• Detail-oriented with the ability to maintain accurate records and data
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative small-team environment
• Self-motivated with strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilitiesPreferred Qualifications and Technical Experience
• Direct immunoassay development experience
• Experience with antibody-based detection systems
• Experience with LC-MS, PCR, and/or immunoassay methodologies
• Experience supporting assay validation and verification studies
• Experience with QA/QC procedures and regulated laboratory practices
• Experience with microfluidics or point-of-care diagnostic platforms
• GMP and/or regulated manufacturing environment experience
• Experience supporting process development, reagent scale-up, or manufacturing transfer activities
• Experience working in a cleanroom or controlled laboratory environment
• Strong pipetting technique and adherence to SOP-driven workflows
• Experience with biological affinity agents, antibody conjugation, or microsphere-based detection systems
• Startup, commercialization, or product development experience is a plus

Physical and Work Environment Requirements

• Ability to work in laboratory and cleanroom environments
• Ability to sit, stand, and perform repetitive laboratory tasks for extended periods
• Ability to safely handle laboratory chemicals, biological materials, and equipment following established safety procedures
• Occasional lifting of laboratory materials and supplies up to 25 pounds may be required

Pay: $55,000.00 - $66,000.00 per year
