General Summary
Supports the daily management of a residence hall community. Implements residential programs and enforces University policies. Serves as a key resource for residents.

Major Duties
  • Oversees community development by leading programming efforts that foster engagement, belonging, and student success. Implements and supports residential and living-learning initiatives in collaboration with campus partners to align with educational goals.
  • Manages the programming budget by overseeing purchases, tracking expenses, and ensuring fiscal accountability. Conducts regular check-ins with staff to ensure programming expectations are met.
  • Conducts regular staff meetings and individual check-ins and completes required performance evaluations to promote staff development and accountability.
  • Assists with the oversight of a residence hall complex by managing crisis situations and providing timely follow-up.
  • Participates in the on-call crisis response rotation and offers guidance to students experiencing personal concerns.
  • Supports opening and closing processes for the residential community, including break periods.
  • Implements and enforces University and residential policies by using an educational conduct process to address student violations and assign sanctions when appropriate. Serves as a conduct officer by adjudicating administrative hearings and determining responsibility for violations of institutional or community living expectations.
  • Participates in departmental initiatives and represents the department at campus events by providing information, supporting engagement activities, and assisting with housing related processes. Serves on a departmental committee and completes required departmental expectations.
  • Hires, trains, evaluates and supervises staff and student employees.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field from an accredited institution, or bachelor’s degree conferred prior to the start date.
  • One year’s relevant experience.
  • Experience working in higher education.
  • Formal training in and experience with crisis intervention and conflict management.
  • Ability to be available for extensive evening and weekend hours and responsibilities, including being on call for emergencies and training.
  • Willingness to live on campus in a University residence hall.

  • This is a summer two/academic year position scheduled 44-weeks per year, with an FTE 0.85.

Physical requirements and working conditions
  • Light work with some physical demands such as continuously lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds but rarely moving more than 25 to 50 pounds.
  • Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
