Resident Aide (PCA or HHA)

Resident Aide Job Description:

The Resident Aide will assist the elderly, daily living activities in the person’s care facility. The position requires a conscientious, sensitive and patient individual who will assist the residents with their daily routine. This individual must work well with others, be vigilant in keeping all areas of the facility “clean and neat” and be able to deal with the usual difficulties associated with working with an elderly ethnic group with diverse abilities and needs. This individual must respect the privacy of all residents and treat them with dignity.

Shift Hours available:

· 3 days (7am-3pm) Shift and Saturday and Sundays 3pm-11pm shift required, overtime hours may apply.

· 5 Days (7am-3pm) Shift, overtime hours may apply.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

· None, reports directly to the Administrator.

Duties/Responsibilities:

· Performs housekeeping duties such as cleaning residents room which include but is not limited to mopping floors, dusting, cleaning windows, walls, drapes, shelves, light fixtures, turning mattresses monthly with assistance, emptying waste baskets and cleaning bathrooms and hallways.

· Re-stock supplies such as facial tissues, toilet paper, paper towels, and soap dispensers in bathrooms, mop closets and resident rooms.

· Collect and deliver to the laundry room, resident clothing, sheets and comforters.

· Report any issues which need repair in the resident rooms, bathrooms and entire facility you may notice to the Director of Operations.

· Assisting the assigned residents with bathing, as well as helping them with getting out of bed, grooming, dressing and oral care.

· Serving meals and snacks during shift.

· Assisting residents with feeding themselves and taking meal tray to their room during a time of illness (Only on a temporary basis).

· Setting up dining room tables before meals and cleaning dining room tables after meals.

· Cleaning all tables and chairs in the dining room and resident hall (activity room).

· Responsible for cleaning and vacuuming the Church each time there is services (occasionally).

· Setting up tables and cleaning areas after visitors and guest depart.

· Reporting resident changes such as behavior or abilities to (Administrator, Case Manager or Medical Room).

· Occasionally transports residents to locations outside the home such as to physicians’ offices via livery services scheduled by the home.

· Participates in monthly staff meetings/in-servicing meetings.

· Perform additional duties as needed.

Education and Experience:

· PCA or HHA certification required.

· High school diploma or equivalent required.

· More than one year or experience preferred.

· Must speak and write English.

· Must possess a strong service orientation, including active listening, critical thinking skills, and close monitoring of residents.

· Basic understanding of medical terminology.

Physical Requirements:

· Prolonged periods of standing, bending and lifting.

· Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds at times.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $19.50 per hour
