Resident Care Assistant/Medication Technician

Job Summary

Sunburst Community Care is seeking compassionate and dependable Resident Care Assistants (RCA) and Medication Technicians (Med Tech) to join our team. Team members will provide direct care, assistance with daily living activities, and support to residents while promoting dignity, independence, and quality of life.

Medication Technicians will also be responsible for the safe administration of medications in accordance with physician orders, facility policies, and Florida regulations.

This position plays a vital role in creating a safe, supportive, and engaging environment for residents.

ResponsibilitiesResident Care Assistant (RCA)

  • Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
  • Assist residents with mobility, transfers, and ambulation
  • Provide assistance with meal service and feeding when necessary
  • Monitor residents for changes in condition and report concerns to nursing or management
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for residents
  • Support residents with social engagement and activities
  • Document care provided according to facility policy

Medication Technician (Med Tech)

  • Administer medications according to physician orders and facility policies
  • Accurately document medication administration
  • Observe residents for medication side effects or adverse reactions
  • Maintain medication carts and ensure proper storage of medications
  • Communicate with nursing staff and supervisors regarding medication concerns
  • Assist residents with daily care when needed

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Medication Technician candidates must have completed a state-approved medication training program (Florida)
  • CPR/First Aid certification preferred
  • Experience in Assisted Living, Memory Care, or healthcare preferred but not required
  • Ability to work with elderly residents in a compassionate and respectful manner
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to assist residents with transfers and mobility
  • Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations
