ABOUT THE ROLE


We are seeking an experienced Resident Engineer to support a major waterfront infrastructure reconstruction program in New York City. This role will oversee field construction operations for structural rehabilitation and marine construction activities along a critical public-access corridor. The Resident Engineer will serve as the primary field representative, ensuring construction quality, schedule adherence, safety compliance, and coordination among contractors, stakeholders, and design teams.

This is an opportunity to contribute to the modernization and resiliency of essential waterfront infrastructure while working on complex structural and marine construction operations in an urban environment.


WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Oversee daily construction operations and field inspection staff

  • Monitor contractor performance, schedule, and compliance with contract documents

  • Coordinate structural and marine construction activities including pier rehabilitation, structural repairs, and waterfront improvements

  • Review contractor submittals, RFIs, and change orders

  • Maintain project documentation, daily reports, and progress tracking

  • Lead coordination meetings with contractors, design teams, and stakeholders

  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, quality requirements, and environmental regulations

  • Support project controls, cost tracking, and progress verification



QUALIFICATIONS

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required

  • Minimum 5 years of Resident Engineering or construction management experience

  • Experience with structural engineering and marine construction projects

  • Experience overseeing public-sector infrastructure construction projects

  • Strong knowledge of construction documentation, scheduling, and inspection practices

  • Excellent coordination and communication skills

  • Previous experience working on projects with NYCEDC, NYC Parks, NYCDDC, or similar agencies strongly preferred

The expected salary range for this role in the New York City Metropolitan Area is $90 - $115 per hour. The total compensation, including salary and bonuses, is determined by various factors such as experience, skill level, location, and qualifications, which are evaluated during the interview process
