Schedule: Monday–Friday, Non-Exempt, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (1-hour lunch break)
Pay: $15–$18/hour

Position Summary

The Resident Technology Specialist provides friendly, patient, and hands-on technical support to residents in a senior living community. This role focuses on helping residents confidently use personal technology such as smartphones, tablets, computers, smart home devices, and entertainment systems.

The ideal candidate is both technically skilled and compassionate, with the ability to explain technology in simple, easy-to-understand terms while delivering a high level of service excellence.

Essential Functions

Customer Service

  • Consistently work cooperatively, utilizing patience and courtesy, with team members and residents to support a positive work environment
  • Follow Resident Rights policies, the Well-Spring Code of Conduct, and all organizational policies
  • Maintain professionalism and composure, even in stressful situations
  • Actively listen to resident, family, and team member concerns and initiate appropriate follow-up
  • Honor and protect the confidentiality, dignity, and well-being of all residents and team members

Resident Support & Training

  • Provide one-on-one and small group instruction on mobile devices (iOS and Android), tablets, and computers
  • Assist residents with email, video calls, messaging apps, and social media
  • Help residents download, install, and use applications safely and effectively
  • Offer guidance on accessibility features such as font adjustments, voice commands, and vision/hearing accommodations

Technical Troubleshooting

  • Diagnose and resolve issues with smartphones, laptops, tablets, printers, and smart TVs
  • Assist with password resets, account access, and device setup
  • Troubleshoot Wi-Fi connectivity and internet-related issues
  • Perform virus and malware removal on resident devices

Household & Smart Technology Support

  • Set up and maintain smart home devices (e.g., smart speakers, thermostats, video doorbells)
  • Assist with streaming services, cable alternatives, and home entertainment systems
  • Support wearable devices such as smartwatches and fitness trackers

Security & Best Practices

  • Educate residents on cybersecurity basics, including phishing scams and safe browsing
  • Install and maintain antivirus and security software
  • Promote safe online habits and data protection practices
  • Stay current with emerging technologies relevant to older adults

Administrative & Facility Support

  • Maintain records of resident support requests and resolutions through a ticketing system
  • Coordinate with IT vendors as needed
  • Assist staff with basic technical issues
  • Collaborate with IT team members on projects and initiatives
  • Perform other duties as assigned by leadership

Training & Compliance

  • Participate in required education and compliance training
  • Assist with onboarding and training of new team members as needed
  • Attend meetings, committees, or resident advisory groups as assigned

Safety

  • Identify and report safety hazards and emergency situations immediately
  • Follow all facility procedures related to equipment and supplies
  • Comply with all federal, state, and local regulations

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Minimum of 1 year in a technology-driven support role or equivalent experience
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Working knowledge of general IT concepts (hardware, software, networking)
  • Basic troubleshooting and technical support experience
  • Self-driven with strong problem-solving abilities and initiative
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English fluently

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods (up to 1 hour continuously)
  • Ability to lift and move up to 25 lbs without assistance
  • Ability to bend, stoop, twist, and work at varying heights, including overhead and below knee level
  • Ability to safely use stepstools or ladders as needed

Additional Information

Well-Spring is a 24/7, year-round operation. While this position follows a Monday–Friday schedule, occasional flexibility may be needed for special events, resident needs, or weather-related protocols.
