KBF by Audi Contractors is seeking a Residential Design & Drafting Specialist to support whole-home remodeling, luxury kitchen, bath, basement, and addition projects. This position bridges design and construction by transforming concepts into accurate construction documents, permit-ready plans, and technical drawings while collaborating closely with clients, designers, project managers, construction teams, architects, and engineers.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed residential construction drawings and permit-ready plans.
- Produce floor plans, elevations, sections, details, and construction documents.
- Verify field measurements and existing site conditions.
- Collaborate with designers to translate concepts into buildable plans.
- Coordinate revisions based on client selections and field conditions.
- Work closely with structural engineers and architects to incorporate engineering requirements into project plans.
- Assist with permitting requirements and code compliance.
- Maintain project documentation and drawing standards.
- Support project handoffs between sales, design, and construction teams.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of residential drafting experience.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Chief Architect, Revit, SketchUp, or similar software.
- Knowledge of residential remodeling and construction methods.
- Experience coordinating with structural engineers, architects, and permitting agencies to ensure construction documents are accurate, code-compliant, and permit ready.
- Strong understanding of building codes and permitting requirements.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Drafting, Architecture, Interior Design, Construction Technology, or related field.
- Design-build remodeling experience.
- Experience with luxury residential projects.
- Experience supporting additions, structural renovations, and complex remodeling projects.
- 3D rendering and presentation experience.
Virginia Requirements
Virginia does not require residential drafters to hold a professional license, certification, or degree to perform drafting services. However, experience creating code-compliant, permit-ready drawings is required. Licensed architects or engineers are only required when plans must be professionally sealed.
Compensation & Benefits
$56,000–$60,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications, with opportunities for growth and advancement.
