Overview:
Our Residential HVAC Service Technician are responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heating and cooling systems for residential customers covered under American Home Shield (AHS) home warranty contracts. This position requires efficiency, professionalism, and a strong ability to manage a high-volume service schedule — typically 8 calls per day and every other Saturday rotation.
Daily Tasks & Responsibilities:
1. Morning Preparation & Dispatch
- Review daily call schedule, customer notes, and parts availability before leaving the shop or home base.
- Communicate with dispatch for route confirmation and any special instructions for AHS calls.
- Ensure service vehicle is fully stocked with commonly used materials, tools, and replacement parts.
- Check and maintain refrigerant inventory, gauges, and digital diagnostic tools.
2. Customer Service & On-Site Diagnosis
- Arrive promptly to each scheduled call in full uniform, maintaining a professional and courteous demeanor.
- Greet customers, review reported issues, and verify system details against AHS service authorization.
- Diagnose issues accurately — whether electrical, refrigerant-related, mechanical, or airflow-related.
- Communicate findings clearly to the homeowner, explaining required repairs or replacements.
- Obtain customer authorization and/or dispatch approval for covered work prior to proceeding.
3. Repairs & System Maintenance
- Perform approved repairs including capacitor replacement, contactor replacement, fan motor changes, refrigerant recharges, and thermostat replacements.
- Conduct pressure testing, vacuuming, and proper refrigerant charging according to EPA and manufacturer standards.
- Clean coils, clear condensate lines, and perform minor tune-ups as needed to ensure optimal system performance.
- Test system operation after repair to verify issue resolution and efficiency.
4. Documentation & Reporting
- Complete AHS service documentation accurately
- Record model and serial numbers, parts used, refrigerant amounts, and repair details.
- Submit before-and-after photos and written diagnostic summaries per AHS requirements.
- Communicate with dispatch or warranty coordinators to close out calls and document follow-up needs.
5. Time & Call Management
- Manage daily workload efficiently to complete 8 service calls per day.
- Maintain consistent communication with dispatch if running ahead or behind schedule.
- Handle overtime or additional calls as directed by the Service Manager during high-demand periods.
6. Saturday Rotation & On-Call Support
- Work every other Saturday as part of the company’s standard rotation.
- Handle scheduled warranty service calls or urgent AHS requests.
- Maintain professionalism and responsiveness even during weekend service hours.
7. Safety, Vehicle & Equipment Care
- Follow all company and OSHA safety guidelines, including PPE use and proper handling of refrigerants and electrical components.
- Keep service vehicle clean, organized, and fully stocked daily.
- Report any vehicle or equipment maintenance needs promptly.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years of HVAC service experience
- Strong understanding of home warranty processes and AHS authorization procedures.
- EPA Universal Certification required.
- Ability to diagnose and repair a variety of HVAC brands and system types.
- Excellent communication, time management, and documentation skills.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
Work Schedule:
- Monday–Friday: Standard service schedule
- Every Other Saturday: Rotating weekend duty for AHS or overflow service calls.
- Overtime during seasonal demand peaks

Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour
