We are seeking a talented, highly organized Residential Interior Designer to support our Lead Designer and help bring beautiful residential projects to life. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys both the creative and technical sides of residential design and thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Position Overview

The Residential Interior Designer plays a key role in the design and documentation process for residential renovation and construction projects. This individual will help transform design concepts into detailed drawings, photorealistic renderings, selection packages, and construction documentation that clearly communicate design intent to both clients and trades.

The ideal candidate possesses strong design software skills, excellent visual presentation abilities, a keen eye for detail, and experience creating detailed residential design documentation using industry-standard drafting and modeling software. Experience with Revit is highly preferred.

This position is primarily work-from-home but requires frequent local travel for site visits, client meetings, vendor appointments, project installations, and photoshoots.

Responsibilities

Design Development & Documentation

• Develop detailed floor plans, furniture layouts, elevations, and design drawings for residential projects.
• Assist in maintaining and organizing project models and drawing sets in Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, or similar software platforms.
• Create comprehensive electrical and lighting plans.
• Produce highly realistic 3D models and photorealistic renderings.
• Assist in developing complete design concepts from schematic design through construction documentation.
• Prepare detailed cabinetry layouts and elevations for kitchens, bathrooms, mudrooms, built-ins, and custom millwork.
• Create finish schedules, material specifications, and selection documentation.
• Assemble client-facing design presentations that clearly communicate design intent.

Client Presentations & Design Communication

• Create mood boards, concept boards, and design presentations.
• Develop organized selection sheets for finishes, fixtures, furnishings, lighting, hardware, and materials.
• Prepare presentation materials for client meetings and design reviews.
• Maintain design files, specifications, and project documentation.
• Ensure consistency and accuracy across all client-facing materials.

Product Sourcing & Selections

• Research and source finishes, furnishings, fixtures, lighting, plumbing, tile, cabinetry, hardware, and decorative materials.
• Obtain pricing, lead times, samples, and product information from vendors.
• Coordinate sample organization and material libraries.
• Stay current on design trends, products, and industry resources.
• Assist with procurement tracking and vendor communication as needed.

Project Support & Field Coordination

• Attend client meetings, design consultations, vendor appointments, and site visits alongside the Lead Designer.
• Conduct site measurements and field verification.
• Participate in regular project check-ins throughout construction.
• Assist in answering design-related questions from project managers, trades, and vendors.
• Help maintain alignment between approved designs and field execution.
• Document project progress through site photography and notes.

Marketing & Portfolio Development

• Assist with professional project photography, installation days, and project reveal events.
• Capture high-quality video content throughout the design and construction process, including site visits, vendor appointments, design presentations, material selections, installation days, and completed projects.
• Document project progress through real-time jobsite photography and video to showcase project transformations from concept through completion.
• Develop and maintain a social media content calendar aligned with active projects, completed portfolio work, seasonal campaigns, and company marketing goals.
• Create engaging content for Instagram, including posts, stories, reels, project highlights, behind-the-scenes content, design tips, before-and-after transformations, material selections, and construction progress updates.
• Collaborate with the Lead Designer to identify compelling project stories and creative content opportunities that showcase the firm's design expertise, craftsmanship, and client experience.
• Generate creative ideas for short-form video content and reels, including design process features, sourcing trips, installation days, project walkthroughs, renovation transformations, and educational design content.
• Assist with writing captions, organizing media assets, and scheduling regular social media posts to maintain a consistent online presence.
• Maintain an organized digital library of project photography, videos, renderings, and marketing assets.
• Assist with portfolio development, project case studies, website updates, award submissions, and other marketing initiatives.
• Support efforts to strengthen brand awareness and showcase the firm's residential design-build projects across digital platforms.

Qualifications

Required

• Degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, Architecture, or related field.
• 2+ years of residential interior design experience preferred.
• Strong proficiency in design software, including SketchUp, AutoCAD, Revit, or comparable drafting/modeling platforms.
• Experience creating professional design presentations, construction drawings, and 3D visualizations.
• Excellent organization and time-management skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Exceptional attention to detail and follow-through.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for local travel.

Preferred

• Professional experience using Revit for residential design documentation and project coordination.
• Experience working in residential renovations, remodeling, or design-build environments.
• Knowledge of residential construction methods and detailing.
• Experience with cabinetry design and custom millwork detailing.
• Familiarity with Lumion, Enscape, V-Ray, Photoshop, Canva, or similar visualization software.
• Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
• Experience creating content for Instagram, including reels, stories, and project-focused social media marketing.
• Strong photography, videography, and visual storytelling skills.
• Familiarity with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, CapCut, or similar content creation and editing tools.

Strong proficiency in one or more of the following:

Pay: $70,755.92 - $83,168.42 per year
