Residential Kitchen and Bath Designer with Architectural Remodeling Emphasis

Job Summary:

Wise Design Builders is growing and seeking a talented and creative Residential Designer with an architectural emphasis to add to our design team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about designing innovative, functional, and aesthetically pleasing residential spaces. This role involves working closely with other team members, trade partners and clients to develop architectural designs that align with the client’s vision while adhering to building codes, project constraints and financial guidelines. Projects include various remodels: kitchens, baths, master suites, lower levels, home additions and new construction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design Development: Create conceptual designs, floor plans, and elevations for single-family homes and custom residential projects. Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other team members, clients, and trade partners to interpret needs and incorporate feedback into design revisions.
  • Project Documentation: Prepare detailed construction documents using construction software, including architectural drawings, specifications, estimating and schedules, ensuring compliance with local building codes and zoning regulations.
  • Visualization: Use design software (e.g., Chief Architect) to develop 2D and 3D models, renderings, and presentations to communicate design ideas.
  • Site Analysis: Conduct site evaluations, space planning, on site measurements and feasibility studies to ensure designs are appropriate for the specific site conditions and environment.
  • Code Compliance: Ensure all designs comply with relevant building codes, zoning regulations, and ADA guidelines.
  • Client Interaction: Present design concepts and solutions to clients, addressing feedback, and providing expert guidance throughout the design process.
  • Material Selection: Assist in selecting appropriate materials, finishes, and furnishings that meet design and budgetary goals.
  • Coordination: Collaborate with structural engineers, MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) and other professionals as necessary to integrate architectural and interior design elements.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Interior Design, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5-8 years of residential design experience, with an emphasis on architectural and structural design.
  • Software Proficiency: Expertise in AutoCAD, Chief Architect, Revit, SketchUp, CoConstruct or similar design tools
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of residential building codes, zoning regulations, construction methods, and materials.
  • Design Skills: Ability to create innovative and functional residential designs that reflect the client’s lifestyle and aesthetic preferences.
  • Problem Solving: Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to address design challenges and offer creative solutions.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present design concepts clearly and effectively to clients and project teams.
  • Attention to Detail: High level of attention to detail in design development, documentation, and construction oversight.
  • Team-Oriented: Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment, with a positive attitude and a willingness to support other team members.
