Residential Maintenance Apprentice

Summary

Flexible work schedule Monday - Friday with no weekend work expected. Up to 5 hours a week of overtime pay authorized, but not expected, if you want more hours.

Position Description

This position performs standard maintenance tasks on residential rental properties. Sheet rock/wall repair, painting, light plumbing repairs, light electrical, deck building, flooring install, etc. We continue to add more homes - often doing a complete remodel. Summertime involves grass cutting, bush hogging and general grounds maintenance.

This is an entry level position for someone with basic skills and a good work ethic. You will work alongside more experienced staff to assist them while learning the trade and building your toolkit. The first opportunity for a raise will be at least 3 months after employment once you have your own tools.

Qualifications

• Must abide by our zero tolerance drug and alcohol policy, including pre-employment, monthly random, and reasonable suspicion drug screening
• Must be able to walk, climb, and lift at least 50lbs, as well as other physical duties as needed
• Must be able to communicate in writing. Work orders describing the work are provided in the property management system. Work assignments and communication are almost exclusively via text message
• Must provide your own smartphone for communication and understand basic use of apps for the property management and timeclock system which are both mobile-enabled
• Must pass an employment background check with no significant recent criminal history
• Must show your work history in your application/resume or state that you have none in the cover letter. Ensure that your phone number is provided
• Must have reliable transportation to the job sites in Sipsey and a valid driver’s license
• Must complete any Indeed Skill Tests as part of the job application. These are stored in Indeed and used for any other applications. Send a message describing what sort of accommodation is necessary if you request accommodation (which means you’re not able to complete the test for some reason).
• Must have your own basic tools (hammer, screwdriver, gloves, etc.)
