The Associate Director of Residential Life - Operations (ADRL) will work with the Residential Operations Assistant weekly to finalize their working schedule based on the program needs at the time.
Job Summary
‘Iolani School reinstated its boarding program in 2018 after a 60-year absence with the goal of creating an on-campus global community to enrich the Upper School experience for all students. Since its founding year, it has grown to approximately 70 students and includes students from the neighboring Hawaiian islands, continental states and international countries from around the world.
The ‘Iolani School Residential Life Team seeks an energetic and team-oriented Residential Operations Assistant. This position is one of two equivalent positions that work collaboratively to support operations for the Residential Life (ResLife) Program. One of the primary responsibilities of the Residential Operations Assistant is to maintain and provide transportation for our boarding students to school organized events, including, but not limited to, athletic commitments, performing arts, school activities, school clubs, and/or medical appointments. Another important aspect of the role is to support the ResLife Program and the programmatic needs of the dormitory building which may vary depending on the school’s calendar. A one-bedroom apartment in campus housing is provided as part of the role.

esponsibilities

The essential duties/responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:
Program Support
Collect all Residential Life (ResLife office staff and boarding students) mail from the Campus Store and the Main Office on a daily basis (Monday - Friday) and distribute accordingly.
Be able to have a basic knowledge, proficiency and understanding of REACH (Boarding Management System)
Assist the Residential Life Office staff with various tasks as assigned.
Work with the Residential Life Office Administrative Assistant to ensure that the Residential Life Office is stocked with necessary supplies (e.g. printer paper, snacks, labels, coffee, office supplies, etc.).
Work with the Director of Residential Health and Wellness to ensure that the ResLife Clinic and Hale La’au 103/104 are stocked with the necessary supplies (bottled water, OTC medications, etc.).
Assist the Associate Director of Residential Life - Operations by reviewing the Residential Life Weekly Bulletin to ensure all transportation information is accurate and scheduled.
Provide weight room supervision. Hours of cardio or weight room supervision are on Sundays from 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. However, exact days and hours may fluctuate.
Dormitory Building and Maintenance
Maintain, organize, and ensure the laundry room and sundry is adequately stocked with supplies.
Inventory all supplies in the dormitory building an off site storage on a yearly basis.
Liaise with the Physical Plant and any other third party vendor(s) as needed.
Pick up supplies and other goods for student activities and use in the dormitory.
Responsible for the organizing and storing of all holiday dormitory decorations and supplies.
Organizing student bin storage over winter and summer breaks, which may or may not include storage in a third party storage POD.
Support the closing and reopening of the dormitory when dormitory closures occur (Move In, Fall Break, Winter Break, Spring Break and Move Out).
Assist the ADRLs and House Parents with managing and maintaining floor supplies:
Appliances, dishes, cookware in the dormitory (monitoring and/or partnering with each floor for specific floor needs).
Holiday and seasonal event decorations.
Dormitory electronics and furniture.
All game and sports equipment.
Transportation
Liaises with other ‘Iolani departments as needed to ensure our boarding students’ transportation needs are met.
Provides airport transportation during major program travel days: Arrival, Fall Break, Winter Break, Spring Break and Summer departures.
Maintains the Transportation spreadsheet with all transportation/van details.
Documents and reviews all Hawaii Association of Independent Schools (HAIS) Private Vehicle Forms for accuracy.
Provides timely and safe transportation according to students’ needs as specified by the Dean of Residential Programs and Associate Director of Residential Life - Operations.
Works closely with Associate Director of Residential Life - Operations to determine needs and the daily/weekly transportation schedule.
Conducts Driver training and recertification for ‘Iolani employees who wish to drive a ResLife vehicle for school use.
Student Activities
Supports all dormitory events in conjunction with the ADRL(s) responsible for that activity.
Picks up supplies and other goods for use in Student Activities and/or Weekend Activities as specified in the Weekly Supply List.
Picks up weekly floor Snacks along with the weekly fruit for the Wong-Trainor Lobby of the dormitory.
Vehicle Maintenance
Conduct weekly maintenance of ResLife Program vehicles, which includes but not limited to:
Ensuring all vans have an appropriate amount of gas.
Cleaning the vans.
Checking tire pressure.
Ensuring the vans have appropriate supplies: sign in sheets, face masks, sanitizer, etc…
Washing and vacuuming of the vans as needed.
Ensuring all vans are up to date with Hawaii State Safety Checks and Insurance Registration.
Getting bi-annual oil changes/tire rotations.
Taking care of any vehicle repair or additional maintenance as needed in a timely manner.
Conducts monthly maintenance of the ResLife Golf cart.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
Must possess or be able to obtain driver qualification and certification requirements to operate vehicles seating up to 14 passengers (plus driver) and weighing up to 7,000 pounds.
Must have a clean driving record. A driver’s report will be pulled prior to the employment offer.
Ability to see and hear within normal parameters with or without correction.
Full range of head, neck, and back movement; unrestricted ability to bend knees, raise arms above the head, and to move hands, fingers, and wrists.
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds without difficulty.
Ability to sit for extended periods, and ability to stand and/or walk for sustained periods of time.
Must successfully pass fingerprinting, background checks, and TB clearance due to working in proximity to children.
Post-offer, pre-employment physical test required.
