Residential Property Appraiser

This is a professional position that combines fieldwork, data analysis, and public interaction.

Responsibilities

 Conduct field inspections of residential, commercial, and personal property

 Measure and document new construction and improvements

 Collect and analyze appraisal data, including sales ratios and market trends

 Review deeds, plats, zoning information, and ownership records

 Enter and verify property appraisal data in computer systems

 Prepare and mail assessment notices

 Assist taxpayers with homestead exemptions, conservation use, and appeal rights

 Provide support to the Board of Equalization

 Maintain documentation to defend assessed values

Qualifications

 High School Diploma or GED

 Coursework or training in property appraisal, assessment, or related field preferred

 Minimum 1 year experience in property appraisal, property assessment, construction, or

related field

 Must possess and maintain Georgia Property Appraiser I certification

 Valid Georgia Driver’s License

Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience will be considered.

Work Environment

 Combination of office and field work

 Outdoor inspections in varying weather conditions

 Moderate physical activity (walking, measuring, lifting up to 20 lbs.)

 Frequent interaction with the public

Pay: From $44,000.00 per year
