Residential Remodeling Designer

Job Summary
We are seeking a creative and technically skilled Residential Remodeling Designer who can combine strong interior/exterior design expertise with the ability to produce detailed construction plans and drawings. In this role, you'll collaborate closely with clients, our project managers, and construction teams to create functional, beautiful, and permit-ready designs for residential remodeling projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Consult with clients to understand their needs, preferences, budget, and lifestyle to develop customized design concepts.
• Create inspiring interior and exterior designs, including space planning, material selections, finishes, fixtures, lighting, and color schemes.
• Produce accurate technical drawings and construction plans using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, Chief Architect, or similar) for permitting, bidding, and construction.
• Prepare 3D renderings, mood boards, elevations, floor plans, and detailed sections to communicate designs effectively.
• Ensure designs comply with local San Antonio building codes, zoning regulations, and industry standards.
• Collaborate with project managers and contractors to refine designs, resolve issues, and support projects through construction.
• Assist in selecting and sourcing materials, appliances, and vendors.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Architecture, Drafting, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• 3+ years of experience in residential remodeling design, with a strong portfolio showcasing both creative designs and technical drawings.
• Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD required; Revit, Chief Architect, SketchUp, or 2020 Design a plus).
• Knowledge of residential construction methods, building codes (especially in Texas/San Antonio), and permitting processes.
• Excellent creative skills with an eye for aesthetics, functionality, and current design trends.
• Strong communication and client-facing skills to present ideas and build rapport.
• Ability to work in a team environment and adapt to fast-paced remodeling projects.
