Role Overview

The School Nurse will be primarily responsible for maintaining the health and well-being of students and staff through effective medical care, record management, and preventive health measures. In addition to healthcare responsibilities, the nurse will assist in hostel supervision and basic warden duties to ensure students’ overall welfare in the residential setting.

Key ResponsibilitiesMedical & Healthcare Duties

• Provide first aid and immediate medical attention to students and staff as needed.
• Maintain student health records, medical history, and immunization data.
• Manage the school infirmary — ensure hygiene, availability of medicines, and proper upkeep of equipment.
• Monitor the health of residential students and those under medication or recovery.
• Liaise with local hospitals or doctors for medical emergencies and referrals.
• Organize regular health check-ups and promote health awareness and hygiene practices among students.
• Maintain records of medical supplies, prepare health reports, and support compliance with school health policies.

Hostel & Administrative Support

• Assist wardens in supervising hostel operations related to students’ well-being, hygiene, and discipline.
• Support the warden team during health-related emergencies in the hostel.
• Ensure a safe and supportive environment for students recovering from illness or injury.
• Provide inputs to the administration regarding health and safety improvements in hostel facilities.

Requirements

• GNM / B.Sc. Nursing or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
• Registered Nurse (with valid license).
• Minimum 2–3 years of experience, preferably in a school, hostel, or pediatric setup.
• Ability to balance medical duties with limited supervisory responsibilities.
• Strong sense of responsibility, empathy, and discretion in handling student health information.
• Willingness to live on campus and be available for emergency situations.

• Calm under pressure and proactive in crisis situations.
• Compassionate caregiver with a student-centered approach.
• Good communication and coordination skills with staff and parents.
