Job Summary:
The Respiratory Care Specialist is responsible for performing all NICU respiratory therapy procedures for the NICU and attending high risk deliveries. Duties will include: performing arterial/capillary blood gas puncture and analysis; draw samples from umbilical and radial lines per completed annual competency; performing all diagnostic procedures specific to NICU or pediatric population and attending all deliveries as scheduled.

Education:

AS degree in Respiratory Therapy
Experience:

Two years’ experience in NICU or completion of NICU training course (didactic/clinical training)

Current neonatal intubation competency with a minimum of two documented
successful neonatal intubations over the last year.

Physical Demands – Patient Care:

Continuous standing/walking and occasional/intermittent sitting.

Continuous use of bilateral upper extremities in fine motor activities requiring fingering, grasping, and forward reaching between waist and shoulder level to handle/operate medical equipment/devices.

Frequent forward bending, twisting, squatting and kneeling; occasional climbing.

Occasional repositioning and transferring patients weighing up to 200 pounds between bed, chair, and gurney.
