Clinical Responsibilities:
- Assess patients with respiratory or cardiopulmonary disorders through clinical examination and diagnostic tests.
- Administer oxygen therapy, nebulization, chest physiotherapy, and aerosol medication.
- Initiate, manage, and monitor mechanical ventilation in ICUs, ER, and operating rooms.
- Perform arterial blood gas (ABG) analysis, pulmonary function tests (PFT), and other diagnostic procedures.
- Assist physicians during bronchoscopy, intubation, and other advanced respiratory procedures.
- Monitor patients’ response to respiratory therapy and adjust treatment plans accordingly.
Emergency Care:
- Provide immediate support during medical emergencies such as cardiac arrest, trauma, or respiratory failure.
- Assist in resuscitation procedures and advanced life support protocols.
Patient Education & Support:
- Educate patients and families about the use of inhalers, breathing exercises, and home-based respiratory equipment (e.g., CPAP, BiPAP).
- Provide counseling on smoking cessation and lifestyle modifications for better lung health.
Collaboration & Coordination:
- Work closely with pulmonologists, intensivists, anesthetists, nurses, and other allied health professionals.
- Participate in multidisciplinary patient management for critical care, NICU, PICU, and wards.
Documentation & Compliance:
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of therapy provided, ventilator settings, and patient progress in EMR.
- Ensure strict adherence to infection control and safety protocols.
