Ellett Memorial Hospital is a Critical Access Hospital in Appleton City, Missouri. We are a 12-bed facility for Acute Care and Extended Care (Swingbed). In addition, we provide 24 Hour Emergency Room Services with 24 Hour Laboratory, Radiology and Ambulance Services.

Ellett Memorial Hospital owns and operates the Appleton City Rural Health Clinic, which provides Monday-Friday primary care as well as hosts a variety of specialty clinics each month.

About the Role:

As a Respiratory Therapist, you will play a critical role in assessing, treating, and caring for patients with breathing or cardiopulmonary disorders. Your expertise will directly impact patient outcomes by providing respiratory care in various settings, including emergency rooms and hospital wards. You will collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized treatment plans. This role demands the ability to work independently while maintaining clear and effective communication with patients and the healthcare team. Ultimately, your work will ensure the delivery of superior quality respiratory therapy services that enhance patient comfort and recovery.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • CRT, RRT, or Bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Therapy from an accredited program.
  • Current and valid Respiratory Therapist license or certification as required by the state of employment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced hospital environment.
  • Basic computer proficiency for documentation and communication purposes.
  • Strong manual dexterity and physical stamina to perform clinical procedures and patient care.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in an emergency room or critical care setting.
  • Certification in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and advanced respiratory care technologies.
  • Proven track record of delivering superior quality patient care and effective communication skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate patients’ respiratory status and develop appropriate treatment plans based on clinical assessments and physician orders.
  • Administer respiratory therapies such as oxygen delivery, aerosol medications, and mechanical ventilation support.
  • Monitor patient progress and adjust treatments as necessary, documenting all care provided accurately in medical records.
  • Respond promptly and effectively to respiratory emergencies, providing critical interventions in high-pressure situations.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to educate patients and families on respiratory care techniques and disease management.

The required skills such as respiratory therapy expertise and the ability to work with minimal supervision are essential for independently managing patient care and responding to emergencies. Effective communication skills enable clear interaction with patients, families, and healthcare teams, ensuring coordinated and compassionate care.
