Respiratory Therapist

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to join the Respiratory Therapy team at Overlook Medical Center. The ideal candidate will provide direct respiratory care, perform pulmonary function testing, assist with CPAP initiation, and support patients requiring durable medical equipment such as oxygen concentrators and nebulizers. This role requires strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently during night shifts in a fast‑paced hospital environment.

Duties & ResponsibilitiesRespiratory Care & Treatment:

  • Provide direct patient care focused on respiratory assessment and therapy.
  • Perform pulmonary function testing and monitor patient response.
  • Initiate CPAP devices and provide training on inhalers and respiratory equipment.

Durable Medical Equipment (DME):

  • Support ordering and continuation of oxygen concentrators, nebulizers, and related supplies.
  • Set up patients with DME equipment and ensure proper usage and understanding.

Clinical Collaboration:

  • Work closely with physicians to ensure alignment of therapy plans with patient needs.
  • Communicate changes in patient condition promptly and accurately.

Patient Education:

  • Provide training on inhalers, CPAP devices, and other respiratory tools.
  • Educate patients and caregivers on best practices for managing respiratory conditions.

Workflow & Documentation:

  • Maintain accurate documentation in accordance with hospital policy.
  • Use EMR systems to document assessments, treatments, and equipment usage.
  • Support quality and safety compliance across Respiratory Therapy services.

QualificationsRequired:

  • Completion of a CoARC‑accredited Respiratory Therapy program
  • RRT or CRT certification from NBRC
  • New Jersey Respiratory Therapist (RCP) License
  • BLS Certification
  • ACLS Certification
  • Minimum 1 year of hospital or physician office experience
  • Computer literacy

Preferred:

  • None listed, but additional respiratory credentials or acute-care experience is beneficial

Additional Information

  • Contract Duration: 8 weeks

  • Schedule: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (3 × 12‑hour shifts weekly, variable days)
  • Hours: 36 hours/week
  • On-site Requirement: 100% on-site

Pay: $21.00 - $24.00 per hour
