Duties

  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, lung function tests, and physiological evaluations to determine respiratory needs.
  • Administer respiratory therapy treatments such as oxygen therapy, aerosolized medications, and ventilator management tailored to individual patient requirements.
  • Operate and monitor advanced ventilator systems for patients in ICU, PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit), and other critical care environments.
  • Manage airway procedures confidently, including intubation, suctioning, and airway clearance techniques for patients of all ages.
  • Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement effective care plans.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of treatments, patient responses, medication administration, and vital signs in compliance with hospital protocols.
  • Respond swiftly to emergency situations involving airway compromise or respiratory distress, providing critical interventions as needed.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in hospital medicine with a strong background in critical care environments such as ICU or Level I/II trauma centers.
  • Demonstrated expertise in emergency medicine procedures including airway management and ventilator troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of pulmonology principles, anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology relevant to respiratory therapy.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is required; additional certifications such as Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) are preferred.
  • Familiarity with pediatric (pediatrics) and geriatric patient populations to deliver age-specific respiratory care.
  • Experience working within inpatient settings—hospital floors, outpatient clinics, or specialty units such as the OR or emergency departments—is highly valued.
