Duties
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments focusing on respiratory function, vital signs, and medical history to develop tailored treatment plans.
- Administer respiratory therapy treatments such as oxygen therapy, aerosol medications, and chest physiotherapy in inpatient setting.
- Conduct airway management procedures such as suctioning care with precision and adherence to safety standards.
- Monitor patient responses during therapy sessions, adjusting treatments based on physiological data and clinical judgment.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, pulmonologists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care for complex cases.
- Maintain accurate documentation of treatments administered, patient progress, and medication administration with facility policies.
- Ensure all equipment is properly sterilized, calibrated, and functioning correctly to uphold the highest standards of patient safety.
Skills
- Proficiency in airway management techniques
- Strong understanding of physiology and anatomy relevant to respiratory function and pulmonology.
- Ability to perform thorough patient assessments using medical terminology and vital signs analysis.
- Skilled in medication administration related to respiratory therapy treatments.
- Basic life support (BLS) certification required; advanced certifications such as ACLS or PALS are a plus.
