Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our healthcare team.

Responsible for providing Respiratory Services in accordance with specific physician’s orders, department policies and procedures. Responsible to detect, observe and report compliance variances through the chain of command, the Compliance Officer. Performs any other duties as required or assigned.

Responsibilities of the job include:

· Treats patients of all ages by using oxygen or oxygen mixtures, chest physiotherapy, and aerosol medications.

· Possess the ability to assess and identify patients with difficulty breathing and correctly connect the patient to a ventilator and delivered pressurized O2 into the lungs.

· Assess patient’s learning needs and styles, consistently providing education as to how to use their medications and equipment.

· Performs regular assessments on patients and checks to ensure that all patient equipment is working properly.

· Evaluates patients by performing assessments and identifies patients who could benefit from incentive spirometry and demonstrates the ability to draw and ABG, interpret the results, and communicate with physician and nursing.

· Consults with physicians and other healthcare staff to help develop and modify individual patient care plans.

· Adheres to Infection Control and Safety Policies & Procedures.

· Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of the differences in techniques and treatment modalities as performed on patients of varying ages, including neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adults and geriatric.

· Keeps equipment cleaned and checked according to departmental standards.

· Is able to trouble-shoot equipment problems and reports damaged or malfunctioning equipment to appropriate manager or engineering department.

· Provides adequate notice to Director prior to absence or tardiness according to hospital policy.

· Attends mandatory training, staff meeting. Keeps required certifications and licensure current.

· Consistently seeks ways to contribute to and improve the respiratory department.

· Performs any other duties as required or assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • Previous experience in all aspects of respiratory therapy services preferred
  • Current GA State Respiratory Therapist licensure
  • BLS certification required
  • ACLS certification required
  • Administration of oxygen/management of mechanical ventilators
  • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation
  • Compassion/interpersonal skills/patience
  • Detail oriented/problem solving skills
