Job Title: Respiratory Therapist (RRT) – Acute Care

Location: Syracuse, New York
Job Type: Contract (13 Weeks)
Shift: Night Shift – 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM

Job Overview

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to join a fast-paced acute care environment. The ideal candidate will be responsible for delivering comprehensive respiratory care, supporting critically ill patients, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Pediatric experience is a plus.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer positive pressure and aerosol therapy

  • Initiate, monitor, and adjust oxygen therapy

  • Assist physicians with mechanical ventilation setup and management

  • Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) when required

  • Conduct pulmonary function testing

  • Perform radial arterial punctures for blood gas analysis

  • Monitor patient response and adjust treatments accordingly

  • Maintain accurate patient records and documentation

  • Deliver patient care independently with minimal supervision

Required Qualifications

  • Associate Degree (A.A.S.) in Respiratory Therapy

  • Active New York State Respiratory Therapist License/Registration

  • Minimum 2 years of acute care clinical experience (post-degree)

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and critical thinking skills

  • Ability to work effectively in high-pressure environments

  • Must pass required pre-employment health screening

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with pediatric patients
