Position Overview

The Respiratory Therapist provides respiratory care designed to diagnose, evaluate, treat, and manage cardiopulmonary conditions within the scope of physician orders and hospital protocols. This position works collaboratively with the healthcare team to deliver patient-centered respiratory care across all age groups.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform and interpret respiratory diagnostic procedures according to established protocols
  • Administer oxygen therapy, aerosolized medications, and respiratory treatments
  • Obtain and analyze arterial blood gases
  • Monitor and manage respiratory equipment including ventilators and airway devices
  • Assist with airway management and emergency response situations
  • Assess patient response to therapy and communicate findings to physicians and nursing staff
  • Educate patients and families on respiratory conditions and self-care techniques
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of respiratory care
  • Participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives
  • Assist in maintaining respiratory equipment and supplies

Requirements:
  • Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program
  • Current CRT or RRT
  • Utah Respiratory Therapist License (or ability to obtain)
  • BLS certification required
  • Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
