Respiratory Therapist, Team Lead - Adults

What You’ll Do


As the Adult Respiratory Care Team Lead, you’ll serve as a clinical and technical leader for Respiratory Therapists working in adult care settings. You’ll help guide daily operations, support safe and effective practice, and continue to deliver bedside care when needed.


Your responsibilities include:

  • Providing clinical and technical leadership for Adult Respiratory Care staff.
  • Ensuring effective daily operations, including staffing support, workflow coordination, and equipment readiness.
  • Delivering respiratory care under physician orders, including:
    • All oxygen and aerosol therapies
    • Airway management and intubation
    • Arterial puncture and blood gas analysis
    • Mechanical ventilation for adult patients
  • Assessing adult patients, planning care, implementing therapy, and evaluating effectiveness.
  • Facilitating rental and management of respiratory equipment as needed.
  • Promoting high standards of teamwork, respect, safety, and patient‑centered care aligned with the WakeWay to Excellence.
  • Supporting WakeMed’s mission, values, and patient‑care standards.


Who You’ll Care For

You’ll support Respiratory Therapists caring for:

  • Adult patients across acute, intermediate, and critical care areas
  • Adults with a wide range of respiratory and cardiopulmonary conditions
  • A diverse, fast‑paced patient population that depends on your clinical leadership


What You’ll Bring

Required Licensure & Credentials

  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
  • Active North Carolina Respiratory Care Practitioner License

Required Certifications (Adult Care):

  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
