Respiratory Therapist TEMP

Position Summary

The Respiratory Therapist (RT) provides specialized respiratory care to residents in a skilled

nursing facility. This role includes assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating

respiratory treatments to support optimal resident outcomes. RT collaborates with

physicians, nursing staff, rehabilitation staff, and other members of the interdisciplinary

team to promote quality of life and compliance with regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Resident Care

· To Assess residents with acute and chronic respiratory conditions and develop

· individualized respiratory care plans.

· Administer prescribed respiratory treatments (e.g., oxygen therapy,

nebulizer treatments, chest physiotherapy, suctioning (if applicable), flutter valves,

incentive spirometry, etc.).

· Monitor residents receiving Respiratory Therapy services.

· Evaluate resident responses to therapy and adjust treatment protocols

under physician guidance.

· Perform pulse oximetry, peak flow, and other bedside testing as ordered.

  • Clinical Documentation

· Complete accurate, timely, and regulatory-compliant documentation in the

resident’s electronic health record (EHR).

· Record skilled daily respiratory progress notes and update care plans as

required.

· Participate in Triple check processes by collaborating on diagnosis coding, skilled justifications.

  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration

· Participate in care plan meetings, quality assurance reviews, and

interdisciplinary team (IDT) meetings.

· Educate staff, residents, and families on respiratory treatments, equipment

use, and disease management.

· Partner with physicians and nurse practitioners for respiratory evaluations

· and recertifications.

· Performs initial and annual competencies with nursing to ensure safe and quality of care is being provided.

  • Equipment & Safety

· Ensure proper use, cleaning, and maintenance of respiratory therapy

equipment.

· Monitor supply levels and coordinate with central supply or vendors to

ensure availability of needed equipment.

· Follow infection control policies and safety standards related to respiratory

care.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program.
  • Licensed Respiratory Therapist in the state of practice.
  • Current BLS/CPR certification (ACLS preferred).
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a healthcare setting; long-term care or skilled

nursing facility experience preferred.

  • Knowledge of CMS regulations, and SNF documentation

standards are highly desirable.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $28.00 - $32.00 per hour
