This position may split time between our Nashville and Clarksville locations at times- travel will be required

AS A RESPIRATORY THERAPIST/ NP & PA EXTENDER, YOUR KEY RESPONSIBLITIES INCLUDE:

Assisting NP/PA as followed:

  • Serves as a NP/PA Extender to help facilitate the clinic schedule
  • Obtain and document patient’s sleep history in chart
  • Verify patient’s medical, surgical and social history
  • Collaborate with NP/PA regarding the patient treatment plan
  • Helps to ensure orders (sleep study, DME, etc.) are written and placed in patient chart
  • Works with the Medical Assistant at times to triage and room patients
  • Excellent communication skills with patients

Assisting with patients on BiPAP, CPAP, ASV therapy as followed:

  • Perform the setup of PAP therapy with the patient via an in-person, remote phone call or video/telehealth visit. Educate patient on aspects of PAP therapy including and not limited to machine cleaning, mask use and cleaning and tubing cleaning. Ensure patients feels confident and comfortable with PAP usage. Answer questions as needed.
  • Input all patient demographics, diagnosis, insurance, prescription and ordered items into software to produce insurance claims and keep resupply information updated.
  • Download SD cards when necessary to retrieve download information in DME Software
  • Perform in person/online mask fittings, mask demos, pressure changes, loaner machines, re-education, machine checks.
  • Upload documentation from FormDr into software for DME set up patients.
  • Update software with current mask description after 30-day mask exchanges for remote setup patients.
  • Add patient information into DME Software
  • Manage all warranty replacements and loaner machines to properly clean, tag and place back into inventory when received back into the practice.

OTHER GENERAL EXPECTATIONS OF THE ROLE:

  • Carefully adhere to HIPAA standards and procedures to ensure the privacy and confidentiality of our patients’ personal and medical information in every interaction.
  • Understand and practice regulatory standards and organization policies and procedures including but not limited to: OSHA, infection control, and patient care policies and procedures.
  • Expected hours are TBD depending on the schedule of the NP/PA
  • Return all patient telephone encounters within 24 hours of the entry time of the encounter
  • Return all internal telephone encounters to ensure peers receive timely responses to requests.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Clinical experience preferred. CRT/RRT License required.

SKILLS & BACKGROUND YOU'LL NEED:

  • Proven and advanced use of technology including and not limited to Dual computer screen processing, eClinicalWorks EMR, voice over IP phone system (including soft phone), Microsoft suite of products (Outlook, Teams, OneDrive)
  • Organization of workspace and optimization of time
  • Communication - advanced written, typing, verbal and listening communication skills
  • Ability to function confidently and thrive in a fast-paced, highly dynamic work environment
  • Priority management - Able to perform a variety of tasks; often changing from one task to another without loss of effectiveness or composure and be able to perform under stressful conditions when presented with multiple requests in a short time.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Sitting or standing for long periods of time
  • Light object lifting/moving, up to 20 pounds
