Compensation: $9/hr + tips

Job Summary

The Host/Hostess at Opus is responsible for creating a warm, polished, and seamless guest experience from arrival to departure. As the first and last impression of the restaurant, this role sets the tone for everything that follows. The ideal candidate is poised, detail-oriented, and genuinely passionate about delivering memorable dining and social experiences. You are the face of Opus—gracious under pressure, impeccably organized, and deeply committed to hospitality in its truest form.

Key Responsibilities

  • Welcome every guest with warmth, professionalism, and a genuine sense of hospitality from the moment they arrive.
  • Manage reservations, waitlists, and table assignments accurately using the reservation platform (e.g., Resy or OpenTable), optimizing seating flow and minimizing wait times.
  • Escort guests to their tables and ensure they are comfortable, informed, and attended to before handing off to the service team.
  • Communicate clearly and proactively with servers, management, and the floor team to coordinate seating, pacing, and special accommodations.
  • Anticipate and accommodate guest needs—including special occasions, accessibility requirements, and dining preferences—with grace and discretion.
  • Manage the host stand with precision, maintaining an organized and presentable entry experience at all times.
  • Handle guest inquiries, phone calls, and reservation requests with professionalism and attention to detail.
  • Monitor dining room flow throughout service, alerting management to any pacing issues or guest concerns.
  • Provide a warm and memorable farewell to every departing guest, reinforcing the Opus experience.
  • Assist with opening and closing duties, including menu organization, reservation preparation, and host stand setup.

Qualifications & Experience

  • 1–2 years of experience in a host, receptionist, or guest-facing role; upscale or fine dining experience strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with reservation management platforms such as Resy or OpenTable.
  • Proven ability to remain calm, composed, and solutions-oriented in a fast-paced, high-expectation environment.
  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills with a natural ability to connect with a wide range of guests.
  • Genuine passion for hospitality and creating memorable experiences for others.
