GBOD Hospitality Group is looking for an experienced Restaurant Manager with an exceptional track record to run the dinner shift (until close) for Bencotto Italian Kitchen and its adjacent sister restaurant, Monello! These are two of the most popular and most authentic restaurants in the heart of Little Italy!

The role's responsibilities include creating and supporting a strong culture and excellent work environment for our team while ensuring guest needs are consistently exceeded, sales are being hit, and quality remains exceptional.

Our Restaurant Manager manages all aspects of the dining room and engages with guests to ensure they are having an amazing experience. This requires a sharp eye, keen judgement, a sense of urgency, ability to react swiftly, and an approachable, professional demeanor.

The Restaurant Manager works effectively with the kitchen to ensure food quality, health and safety standards, ticket times, and presentation are all met in accordance with the highest standards.

Each of our leaders is required and expected to work well within their leadership teams and foster a positive environment on the floor - clearly communicating expectations, acknowledging positive performance, and respectfully providing corrective feedback. The Restaurant Manager will mentor employees of levels (from fellow managers to non-exempt team members) to support their growth in a manner consistent with GBOD expectations.

While not working on the floor, the Restaurant Manager is expected to contribute ideas for improvement, reliably execute projects for the venue's benefit, and always strive to grow personally and professionally as part of a strong team.

Prior restaurant management experience is critical to this role and references will be required to verify the candidate's experience as well as management/leadership style. This role also requires a background check.

Restaurant Manager Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • Coordinate daily Front of the House restaurant and bar operations, including setting sections and adapting to any last-minute scheduling issues
  • Adhere to all health and safety standards as set by the Company as well as government agencies
  • Control the day-to-day operations of the venue within the policies and guidelines set forth by the company.
  • Respond to guest service needs to provide the highest standards of service.
  • Possess extensive food and beverage (F&B) knowledge, learning and recalling every aspect of both restaurant food and drink menus.
  • Maintain a professional company image, including restaurant and bar cleanliness, proper uniforms, and appearance standards.
  • Once the restaurant closes, ensure closing duties are fully and satisfactorily executed by the closing team, handling all server and bar checkouts, properly running and reconciling the sales report, completing the nightly manager pass-down report thoroughly but succinctly, and ensuring that the bank is correctly counted with deposits prepared.
  • Recruit, interview, and hire team members; train, supervise and motivate; take disciplinary action and recommend termination of team members when necessary.
  • Ensure all staff is properly trained and have the tools and equipment needed to effectively carry out their job functions.
  • Ensure a safe working and guest environment to reduce the risk of injury and accidents.
  • Represent the venue in a professional manner to the community-at-large, including local businesses, civic organizations, and media.
  • Appraise staff performance and provide feedback to improve productivity.
  • Manage the brand’s good image and suggest ways to improve it.
  • Develop revenue opportunities for the restaurant, bar, such as suggesting promotional or revenue increasing ideas and implementing such programs when they are created.
  • Successfully and cooly handle the pressures and problems that all come in a multi-functioning venue.
  • Maintain a professional atmosphere at all times by modeling such behavior - from punctuality and dependability to having appropriate and positive interactions with team members and guests alike.

Restaurant Manager Qualifications

  • At least 5 years' experience managing in a similar setting (casual/upscale casual, high volume restaurant in California)
  • High School Diploma or GED required; relevant college coursework or formal training preferred
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Must speak fluent English; bilingual (English/Spanish) a strong plus
  • Knowledge of computer systems (MS Office, Google Drive, Yelp Business)
  • Knowledge of POS systems, Aloha experience preferred
  • Knowledge of reservation systems
  • Must be flexible and adaptable to change
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Strong adherence to accountability, personal responsibility, and the value of positive leadership
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively and efficiently, both verbally and in writing
  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills
  • Must be internally motivated, detail-oriented, and have a passion for teaching others
  • Ability to work a flexible work schedule to include evenings (until close), weekends, and holidays - no less than 50 hours per week (including floor time and meetings/projects)

Upon hire, chosen candidate will need to submit a copy of a valid Manager Food Handler’s Card, and a valid Responsible Alcohol Server (RBS) certification.
