Visscher Construction & Restoration is a growing, family-owned construction company located in West Michigan. We focus on Residential building as well as some Commercial work, including: new builds, additions, exteriors, and insurance mitigation & restoration.


Job Overview

The
Restoration Technician is a vital "first responder" for homes and businesses facing damage from water, fire, smoke, or mold. This role requires an individual who is hardworking, empathetic, and highly organized. You will be responsible for the initial mitigation process, which includes property inspections, water extraction, demolition, and the setup of drying equipment.


The ideal candidate is someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and takes pride in helping homeowners during stressful situations. You must be able to work with minimal supervision while maintaining meticulous documentation and following all health and safety standards. The right candidate will have a strong work ethic, show up on time, and possess their own hand tools.


Team Member Screening
- At Visscher Construction, we take pride in bringing dignity back to the trades, with our Heads Held High (a core value we call "The 3 H's"). As part of that goal, we require rigorous screening on all applicants before making a final job offer. This includes passing the following screenings:

  • Motor vehicle report (we require proof of a valid driver’s license and will review past driving records)
  • Candidate must also have reliable transportation to and from work
  • County/State/National criminal background check
  • Credit report screening
  • Substance-abuse screening

Role-Specific Requirements (Carpenter)


  • Experience in restoration, mitigation, or specialized cleaning. Familiarity with IICRC standards is highly preferred.
  • Proficiency in using specialized restoration equipment, including moisture meters, thermal imaging cameras, air movers, and dehumidifiers.
  • Ability to assist with reconstruction efforts. This includes basic carpentry, hanging drywall, installing insulation, and light trim work to return the property to its pre-loss condition.
  • Ability to perform controlled demolition (removing drywall, flooring, etc.) and set up containment zones.
  • Willingness to participate in an "on-call" rotation for emergency after-hours calls (water leaks, storm damage, etc.).
  • Understanding of the general best practices within construction and how to implement them

Location: Ludington, MI and surrounding area


Hours:
Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm (actual hours will vary by season or projects).


Compensation:
Starting wages at $18 - $25 per hour plus overtime
