Job Summary:
The Retail Buyer is responsible for curating, purchasing, and managing all retail merchandise for the boutique fitness studio. This role combines trend awareness, vendor management, and inventory control to create an engaging retail experience that aligns with the studio’s brand and drives revenue. The ideal candidate has a strong sense of style, excellent negotiation skills, and an understanding of what appeals to a fitness-focused clientele.
Key Responsibilities of the Job
Buying & Merchandising

Research and identify retail trends that align with the studio’s aesthetic and clientele (athleisure, accessories, wellness products, etc.).

Select and purchase apparel, accessories, and retail items on a timely basis based on studio needs

that reflect the studio’s brand identity and seasonal goals.

Develop and maintain relationships with vendors, negotiate pricing, and manage purchase orders.

Create seasonal buying plans based on sales data, customer feedback, and market trends.

Collaborate with marketing to support product launches, promotions, and displays.

Sort incoming retail and deliver them to studios.
Inventory & Operations

Upload new inventory into Mariana Tek.

Maintain efficient policies and procedures for Studio Managers and Senior Studio Managers to report Inventory on Hand in a timely manner to ensure shrinkage goals are met.

Manage stock levels and reorder cycles to balance inventory investment and availability.

Monitor product performance and adjust buying strategies based on sales reports.

Oversee inventory intake, tagging, and display setup in coordination with studio staff.

Ensure all retail displays are visually appealing, well-organized, and on brand.
Team & Brand Collaboration

Train studio staff on product knowledge and sales techniques.

Work closely with the marketing and operations teams to ensure retail supports larger business goals and seasonal product drops.

Coordinate with Marketing and Brand Director for branding images/files for submission to vendors

Represent the studio’s brand values through product selection, presentation, and customer experience.

Coordinate with 3rd party vendors to design and order Grit Branded retail.
Financial & Strategic
-
Work within budget guidelines to achieve profit margin goals.

Track sales KPIs, markdowns, and vendor performance.

Provide regular retail performance reports and recommendations to leadership.

Eligibility

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States

Must be able to attest to employment authorization

Must be 18 years of age or older

Must have employment eligibility and identity documents

Must have the ability to travel to studios and headquarters with own transportation methods

Must have superior customer service and hospitality skills

Must be highly organized with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks with tight deadlines

Strong ability to communicate with team members, clients, and senior management
-
Demonstrate a solution oriented mindset and ability to execute within the company’s standards in any situation
Availability

Willing to work a flexible schedule including evenings or late nights, weekends, and holidays

Must have the ability to attend and lead monthly Studio Manager meeting

Must be able to visit all studios on a regular as needed basis

Willing to work in an environment with bright lights and loud music

Willing to stand and/or sit for long periods of time

Willing to move boxes weighing up to 30 lbs (13.6 kg)

Willing to work as part of a team and also complete some work independently
