Retail Data Systems Analyst Intern

Internship Overview

This internship provides hands-on experience working with the systems and data infrastructure that support retail field execution across multiple customers and markets.

The Retail Data & Systems Analyst Intern will gain exposure to how retail programs are built, managed, and analyzed using modern retail technology platforms and structured data systems.

Interns will help support the systems that connect product authorization data, store mapping, and field execution reporting. Through this work, the intern will develop practical experience with retail data management, systems configuration, analytics, and operational problem solving.

The intern will work directly with the Retail & Data Systems Specialist and collaborate with cross-functional teams across retail operations, analytics, and business functions. This internship is designed to provide meaningful project experience and insight into how technology and data systems support modern retail organizations. This internship will be 8 weeks long.

Position Summary

The Retail Data & Systems Analyst Intern will support the administration, configuration, and optimization of the company’s retail execution systems and operational data infrastructure.

This role provides hands-on experience working with cloud-based retail technology platforms such as GoSpotCheck and exposure to the systems that power retail field execution, reporting, and client programs.

The intern will work directly with the Retail & Data Systems Specialist while collaborating with cross-functional teams across retail operations, analytics, and business teams.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Assist with administration and configuration of the GoSpotCheck retail execution platform.
  • Support the design and structure of field missions used by representatives to collect retail execution data.
  • Assist with onboarding retail clients and maintaining system data structures including item catalogs, store mappings, route lists, and customer hierarchies used for field execution and reporting.
  • Support troubleshooting and resolution of system or data issues impacting store visits, missions, or reporting.
  • Assist in developing reports, dashboards, and data visualizations used by management and retail teams.
  • Analyze retail execution data to help identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for improvement in field programs.
  • Work with team members to improve system documentation, workflows, and operational processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional retail, business, and technical teams on system initiatives and operational improvements.

Skills & Learning Opportunities

  • Exposure to retail technology platforms and operational data systems.
  • Experience working with structured retail data including product catalogs, store mappings, and execution reporting.
  • Opportunity to assist with data automation and scripting initiatives.
  • Hands-on experience with reporting tools and data visualization concepts.
  • Exposure to cross-functional collaboration between retail, operations, and analytics teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Data Analytics, Business Analytics, Computer Science, Business, or a related field.
  • Strong interest in data systems, analytics, retail operations, or technology platforms.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Office 365.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Basic Proficiency in Python
