Job Summary

We are looking for a committed and technically strong Retail Technical Support Engineer to join our Maxim Retail Division in Oman.

This role is focused on:

  • Customer support
  • On-site troubleshooting
  • POS software implementation
  • Retail hardware setup
  • Technical issue resolution
  • Basic software/database support

Retail is a highly sensitive industry where system downtime directly impacts customer billing and store operations. We need someone who can stay calm under pressure, respond professionally during critical situations, and handle customers confidently even when tensions are high.

The ideal candidate should be proactive, solution-oriented, and capable of going above and beyond to support customers, retain relationships, and ensure smooth store operations.

You will regularly visit customer locations across Muscat and other regions in Oman to provide technical support and ensure seamless functioning of retail systems.

Key Responsibilities

Retail & POS Support

  • Install, configure, and support Maxim POS systems for supermarkets and retail stores
  • Troubleshoot billing, inventory, barcode, and reporting issues
  • Provide on-site and remote technical support to customers

Hardware & Peripheral Support

  • Configure and maintain:
  • POS terminals
  • Barcode scanners
  • Receipt printers
  • Weighing scales
  • Cash drawers
  • Label printers
  • Network devices

Software & Database Support

  • Support SQL database backups, restores, and troubleshooting
  • Handle basic SQL queries and data corrections when required
  • Coordinate with development teams for escalated software issues

Technical Coordination

  • Understand VB.NET-based legacy systems and workflows and C Sharp
  • Assist in testing and validating software updates
  • Support API/system integrations where required

Customer Service & Crisis Handling

  • Train retail staff on system usage
  • Respond quickly and professionally during urgent breakdowns and billing counter downtime
  • Handle stressful customer situations calmly and professionally
  • Retain customer confidence through proper communication and fast problem resolution
  • Bring new ideas and practical solutions to improve customer operations and reduce recurring issues
  • Maintain service reports and support documentation

Required Skills

Technical Skills

  • Experience with POS or retail software support
  • Basic knowledge of:
  • VB.NET / .NET applications and C Sharp
  • SQL Server / T-SQL
  • Windows troubleshooting
  • Networking fundamentals

Preferred Experience

  • Retail or supermarket software support
  • ERP/POS implementation experience
  • Hardware troubleshooting
  • SQL database handling

Soft Skills

  • Strong troubleshooting ability
  • Excellent customer handling skills
  • Ability to work independently on customer sites
  • Strong communication and pressure-handling capability
  • Problem-solving mindset with a proactive attitude

Mandatory Requirements

  • English & Malayalam Speaking Mandatory
  • Valid Oman Driving License
  • Willingness to travel for customer support across Oman
  • Technical diploma or degree in IT/Computer Science (preferred)
