Introduction to DA BUX Double Up Food Bucks

DA BUX Double Up Food Bucks (also known as “DA BUX”) partners with food retailers across the state to make Hawai‘i grown fruits and vegetables more affordable for low-income residents receiving federal food benefits from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). When SNAP shoppers use their SNAP food dollars to purchase qualifying local produce at participating DA BUX food retailers, they receive a 50% discount on those items. As the DA BUX program administrator, The Food Basket reimburses participating food retailers for the local produce discounts issued.

Job Title: Retailer Support Specialist

Compensation: $40,000-$50,000 annual salary with health insurance coverage

Position Start Date: 8/1/2026

General Job Duties: Support data collection from retailers to meet reporting and evaluation needs, and support data cleaning, management, and organization.

Education Requirements: Minimum Bachelor's degree from a four (4) year accredited college required. Education is preferred in the fields of Business, Public Health, Accounting, Mathematics, Statistics, or Natural Sciences.

Preferred Experience: One (1) year experience in Agriculture, Food Systems/Access, Community Development, Human Services, Public Health, Public Administration, or a related field.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Work with the Retailer Support Manager to audit and prepare data for submission to the “Nutrition Incentive Program Training, Technical Assistance, Evaluation and Information Center (NTAE).” NTAE metrics include dollar value of SNAP redeemed, unique incentive customers, and number of incentive transactions.
• Work with Retailer Support Manager to audit retailer data for monthly invoice processing. Communicate with Retailer Support Manager when data is reported in error, when we need further clarification on questionable data, or when data is past due.
• Collect, clean, and organize all retailer data and documentation in file sharing and storage platforms, One Drive and Dropbox. Ensure files are labeled with consistent formatting and organized in their appropriate folder. Any saved analyses in Dropbox must be formatted for the Director and auditors to easily verify accuracy and processes used for analyses.
• Receive and track support requests from retailers, and work with Retailer Support Manager to provide technical support and develop training materials for retailers.
• Support creating and ordering retailer marketing materials and tracking the progress of marketing related projects.
• As needed, assist with other DA BUX program needs that are not specified in this job description.

Skills and Abilities:

• Must love working with data.
• Must be proficient in Excel.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, especially via email and phone
• Must be extremely detail-oriented and perform data analysis with minimal errors and clean formatting.
• Ability to work as a team member and incorporate input from team members in most day-to-day work.
• Familiarity with document editing software such as Word, Adobe Acrobat Pro and AdobeSign.
• Familiarity with online data sharing and communication platforms such as Dropbox, Zoom, One Drive, Google Drive, Google Spreadsheets, and Google Docs.
• Ability to self-learn programs or applications that can enhance efficiency or accuracy in carrying out duties and responsibilities.
• Ability to interface with a wide range of cultures and stakeholders, including retailers, program staff, SNAP participants, and funders. Practices cultural sensitivity at all times.
• Familiarity with statistical analysis software such as “R” or “SAS” (preferred but not required).
