Reviewer/Editor (Textbook Publishing)

Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Reviewer/Editor to assist with the final review and quality assurance of educational textbook content prior to publication. This role involves proofreading drafts, making corrections, identifying inconsistencies, and providing clear editorial notes to ensure accuracy, readability, and alignment with company standards.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, proficient in grammar and style conventions, and comfortable collaborating with writers, editors, and production staff in a deadline-driven environment.

Responsibilities

• Proofread and review textbook drafts for grammar, spelling, punctuation, formatting, and consistency

• Ensure content aligns with company style guidelines and the Chicago Manual of Style (CMOS)

• Identify errors, unclear wording, and inconsistencies in instructional materials

• Add editorial notes and suggestions to improve overall quality and readability

• Verify accuracy and completeness of content before publication

• Collaborate with writers, editors, and production team members to implement revisions

• Maintain attention to detail while managing multiple projects and deadlines

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of grammar, usage, and editing conventions

• Proficiency with the Chicago Manual of Style (CMOS)

• Excellent written communication and organizational skills

• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team

• Prior editing, proofreading, publishing, or educational content experience preferred

• Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, Communications, Journalism, or a related field
