RF & Antenna Design Engineer

Role Summary
The RF & Antenna Engineer supports the design, simulation, integration, and testing of RF, microwave, and antenna subsystems for Aerospace & Defence platforms. The role focuses on hands-on engineering execution, guided by senior engineers and technical leads.

Key Responsibilities
Antenna Design & Analysis
  • Assist in the design of antennas such as:
Wideband and multiband antennas
Patch, monopole, dipole, and small arrays
Radar, GPS, IFF, EW, and communication antennas
  • Perform antenna placement and basic coupling analysis
  • Support radome and RF-transparent material evaluation
RF & Microwave Engineering
  • Support RF subsystem design and analysis:
LNAs, PAs, filters, switches, couplers
  • Perform RF budget analysis (gain, NF, power)
  • Assist in schematic, layout review, and debugging
Simulation & Tools
  • Perform EM simulations using HFSS / CST / FEKO
  • RF circuit simulations using ADS / AWR
  • Update models based on measurement correlation
Testing & Validation
  • Carry out RF and antenna measurements under guidance:
VNA S-parameter measurements
Antenna gain and radiation pattern testing
Spectrum and power measurements
  • Support EMI/EMC and environmental tests
Documentation & Reviews
  • Prepare design documents, test procedures, and reports
  • Participate in design reviews (PDR, CDR)
  • Follow configuration control and quality processes
Cross-Functional Support
  • Work with mechanical, system, EMI/EMC, and manufacturing teams
  • Support integration, assembly, and field issue resolution
Required Skills & Qualifications
Technical Skills
  • Fundamentals of RF, microwave, and antenna theory
  • Basic understanding of platform-integrated antennas
  • Awareness of EMI/EMC concepts
  • Hands-on exposure to RF lab equipment
Tools & Equipment
  • EM tools: HFSS, CST, FEKO (basic to intermediate)
  • RF tools: ADS, AWR
  • Measurement: VNA, Spectrum Analyzer, Power Meter
Education
  • BE / BTech in Electronics & Communication Engineering
  • ME / MTech in RF/Microwave or Antennas is an advantage
Behavioral Skills
  • Strong learning attitude and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in team-oriented, process-driven environments
  • Good technical documentation and communication skills
