Rhode Island Teachers with Elementary Certification needed for Summer Learning Program

The Summer Learning Program is a partnership between the Boys & Girls Clubs of Providence and Providence Public Schools.Training Dates: Late June (dates to be determined based on PPSD end-of-school schedule). Pre-program prep in late June/early July. Summer Learning Program starts on July 6 and runs through August 14. Organization closed July 1-3 for holiday.

No program on August 7 and 10.Hours of Work: Monday through Thursday 8:30 AM to 12:00 Noon, plus planning time, for a total of approximately 16-18 hours week from July 6-August 14, plus pre-program training and planning in late June and early July. Total hours for the summer are not to exceed 128 hours.Required Qualifications-Must have a valid, current Rhode Island teaching license with Elementary certification.-Must have a 4-year college degree.-Ability to lesson-plan and submit plans to SLP Program Director every Friday.-Strong classroom management skills and the ability to engage students effectively.-Ability to create a positive, inclusive, and structured learning environment.-Strong collaboration and communication skills to work with colleagues and supervisors.-Ability to adapt to program guidelines and maintain a professional approach.Experience Minimum of 3 years of previous experience teaching elementary or middle school students, preferably in an urban, diverse setting. Experience in lesson-planning and curriculum implementation. Proven ability to manage classroom behavior and foster student engagement.

Background in summer learning programs, tutoring, or enrichment education is preferred. Successful experience working with diverse populations preferred (for example: English Language Learners and/or students in Special Education programs). Ability to follow BGCP policies and procedures in child safety, behavior management, safety and security, attendance, communications, etc. Ability to clear all required pre-employment background checks, including but not limited to: national, state and local criminal background checks (including fingerprinting), RI DCYF Child Abuse and Neglect Tracking check (C.A.N.T.S.), applicable out-of-state background checks, continuous criminal records watch during course of employment, I-9 documents verification, pre-employment drug screen for illegal drugs, teaching certification verification, employment verification, reference checks.
