Overview

The Ride Maintenance Foreman is responsible for overseeing the inspection, maintenance, and repair of rides and mechanical systems at Gilroy Gardens Family Theme Park. This position ensures the safe and efficient operation of all ride attractions while maintaining compliance with company safety standards, regulatory requirements, and operational procedures. This individual provides direct oversight of ride maintenance mechanics and technicians, supporting daily maintenance operations, preventative maintenance programs, and technical troubleshooting. The Ride Maintenance Supervisor plays a key role in safety compliance, staff supervision, and operational reliability of park attractions. This position reports directly to the Ride Maintenance/Mechanical Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Operational:

  • Responsible for the daily operations of ride maintenance, including inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs.
  • Regularly present in ride areas and maintenance facilities to support staff and ensure safety and operational standards are met.
  • Supervise and coordinate the work of ride maintenance mechanics and technicians.
  • Review schedules to ensure proper staffing and timely completion of maintenance tasks and work orders.
  • Inspect rides, mechanical systems, and equipment for safety, functionality, and operational efficiency.
  • Identify mechanical and operational issues, troubleshoot problems, and implement timely and effective solutions.
  • Assist with complex repairs and fabrication of parts and components as necessary.
  • Ensure prompt response to maintenance requests and ride downtime issues.
  • Coordinate maintenance projects with other departments, contractors, and ride manufacturers.
  • Ensure and maintain compliance with State and local agencies.
  • Assist with building and facility maintenance including electrical, plumbing, and HVAC projects and repairs.

Financial:

  • Assist with preparation and monitoring of maintenance-related budgets.
  • Review labor and operational reports to ensure efficient use of resources.
  • Monitor expenditures related to maintenance supplies, tools, and equipment.
  • Assist with inventory control, ordering, and cost management of parts and materials.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation to support operational and compliance requirements.

Development:

  • Stay informed on industry trends, ride safety standards, and maintenance best practices.
  • Assist with development and implementation of preventative maintenance programs and procedures.
  • Participate in planning for long-term equipment maintenance, upgrades, and replacements.
  • Support training and development of maintenance staff to improve technical skills and performance.

People:

  • Supervise, train, coach, and evaluate ride maintenance staff.
  • Provide ongoing feedback and complete performance evaluations.
  • Address employee concerns and recommend hiring, promotions, discipline, or termination as appropriate.
  • Assign, review, and plan work to ensure productivity and adherence to standards.
  • Foster a positive, professional, and safety-focused work environment.

Health & Safety:

  • Ensure compliance with all park safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Enforce proper safety practices, including Lock-out/Tag-out procedures and safe equipment operation.
  • Monitor work areas for hazards and take corrective action as needed.
  • Ensure all rides and equipment are maintained in safe operating condition.
  • Promote a strong safety culture for employees and guests.

Other:

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of maintenance areas and workspaces.
  • Operate company vehicles, rides, and maintenance equipment as required.
  • Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation related to maintenance activities.
  • Communicate with leadership regarding operational updates, concerns, and project status.
  • Adhere to all Gilroy Gardens policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
  • Experience in ride maintenance, mechanical maintenance, or related technical field preferred.
  • Practical knowledge in one or more trades such as mechanical, electrical, hydraulics, pneumatics, welding, carpentry, or small engine repair preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise, train, and develop staff.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Must be able to work calmly and safely in the presence of guests and team members.
  • Must possess strong safety awareness and follow all safety procedures.
  • Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays to meet business needs.
  • Ability to meet Gilroy Gardens attendance and availability requirements.
  • Adhere to Gilroy Gardens code of conduct including costuming and grooming standards.
  • Ability to pass a drug test and background check per Company policy.

Certifications

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $35.00 - $40.00 per hour
