GPI is seeking a full-time Right-of-Way (ROW) Team Leader to work within our New England Survey Team. The right person will be based in either our Wilmington, MA, or Salem, NH offices. We are seeking motivated individuals to work primarily on DOT survey and right-of-way projects, as well as private sector projects. This position provides an exceptional opportunity for long-term career growth for the right candidate.

Responsibilities:

  • Project management, client coordination, staff supervision, and collaborating with other technical leaders within the firm.
  • Maintain and prioritize a backlog of ROW projects, ensuring timely scheduling and efficient resource allocation.
  • Creating and editing CAD Drawings for ROW and easement/taking plans using AutoCAD Civil 3D (required) and OpenRoads Designer (preferred).
  • Ability to understand sketches, maps, deeds, plans, and other record drawings, and compile them in a CAD drawing.
  • Ability to understand Civil/Highway/Bridge construction plans and evaluate construction impacts on private property outside of the public ROW.
  • Familiarity with MassDOT ROW process required. Familiarity with NHDOT ROW processes and requirements is preferred but not required.
  • Familiarity with other New England State DOT ROW processes and requirements is a plus. This position provides an exceptional opportunity for career growth as the selected candidate will be exposed to a wide range of projects and responsibilities.
  • Registry of Deeds research experience.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of ROW or Land Surveying experience required.
  • AutoCAD Civil 3D experience is required.
  • Microstation Openroads experience is a plus.
  • Computer skills
    • Familiarity with basic Microsoft programs (Word, Excel, Outlook)
    • Familiarity with Bluebeam is preferred but not required
  • PLS preferred. Will consider strong candidates working towards licensure.
  • Ability to lead, manage, and mentor less experienced staff
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Maintain a valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for final consideration
  • Possess a personal vehicle for use on or around a job site
  • Read, write, and understand plans and directions given in the English language
  • Basic computer skills with the ability to create and edit Microsoft Word and Excel documents, create Outlook emails and utilize SharePoint and Microsoft Teams to communicate with other team members
  • Able to stand for approximately 3 hours minimum a day up to 8 hours
  • Able to traverse a construction job site consisting of uneven ground varying in height and consistency of material, with a variation of elevation 19" or less (mud, gravel, rutted ground, etc.)
  • Able to wear GPI required PPE, i.e., hard hats, safety vest, work boots, and/or safety glasses/goggles while working
