About the Job:
The Risk Management Coordinator provides administrative support activities for the Risk Management and Quality Improvement department in implementing effective projects as needed and record keeping systems/data entry. The Coordinator is responsible for ensuring compliance of all regulatory agency requirements. Assists Department Directors and staff to meet compliance with facility policies and procedures and regulatory and accrediting agencies.
The Patient Advocate supports client rights efforts through educating clients and families, guiding complaint/grievance processes and reporting unresolved threats to client safety to appropriate staff. Responds to any concerns, problems or grievances of clients regarding customer service, client rights and belongings and follows-up with Department Directors and staff to assure resolution of the concern. This position is onsite at the facility and is not a remote position.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Assists in maintaining accreditation compliance, patient safety goals and other state or licensing requirements.
- Facilitates document processing between managers and committees.
- Records and maintains committee meeting minutes, performance improvement and risk management documentation.
- Maintains updated policy and procedure manuals and electronic and physical database.
- Assists in project implementation and system-wide education and compliance initiatives including compliance with State Licensing and CMS regulatory requirements.
- Maintains and analyzes incident reports to support PI data collection and reporting needs and direction.
- Tracks projects as assigned throughout the facility, which may include but is not limited to quality council, policies and procedures, safety committee, departmental monitors, board monitors and graphs.
- Assists Department Directors and staff as needed to maintain compliance with regulatory guidelines and policy implementation.
- Facilitates client/family grievance process to include processing the complaint, forwarding to the appropriate manager and communicating the resolution to the complainant for resolution purposes.
- Collaborates with appropriate staff to develop acceptable resolutions to potential complaints.
- Identifies process deficiencies that result in possible threats to client rights or client safety.
- Maintains the complaint and grievance logs up to date.
- Collaborates with risk department and department managers to ensure client concerns are dealt with in a timely and appropriate manner.
- May participate in new hire orientation on educating staff on client safety and advocacies.
- Identifies critical needs with regard to customer service and discusses with supervisor and medical staff.
- Reviews, analyzes and dissects data, recommends resolutions and measures Clinical Quality Indicators (CQI). Manages Client Satisfaction data.
- Manages the Grievance process and maintains tracking systems.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate degree or bachelor’s degree within a clinical healthcare field such as nursing or counseling preferred.
- One year experience with Joint Commission/CARF accreditation preferred and working in a compliance or risk capacity.
- CPR and de-escalation and restraint certification required (training available upon hire and offered by facility).
- Experience in customer service or risk management preferred.
- Experience with behavioral health clients preferred.
LICENSES/DESIGNATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS:

- First aid may be required based on state or facility.
