Job description:

1. Conduct clinical evaluation, history taking, physical examination, and ongoing monitoring of thalassemia patients in OPD.

2. Assess anemia severity, transfusion needs, iron overload status, growth parameters (pediatric patients), and treatment-related complications.

3. Prescribe and supervise blood transfusions as per approved guidelines and ensure proper documentation.

4. Monitor and support iron chelation therapy in coordination with hematology consultants.

5. Interpret basic laboratory investigations (CBC, relevant biochemistry) and plan follow-up care.

6. Identify emergency or high-risk cases and arrange timely referral or admission.

7. Provide counseling to patients and caregivers regarding disease management, treatment compliance, nutrition, infection prevention, and follow-up schedules.

8. Maintain complete, accurate, and confidential OPD medical records, transfusion logs, and treatment plans.

9. Coordinate with hematologists, nursing staff, laboratory, and allied health professionals to ensure continuity of care.

10. Adhere to institutional SOPs, safety protocols, and quality assurance standards.

11. Participate in audits, reporting of adverse events, and continuous professional development activities.

12. Required to supervise blood transfusion activities in the absence of the Blood Transfusion In-charge

13. Required attendance at off-site Blood Donation Camps; schedule may include early mornings, evenings, and Sundays

Requirements:

• MBBS degree from a recognized university.
• Valid PMDC registration.
• Minimum 2 years of clinical experience, Thalassemia Hospital experienced Candidates will be given priority.
• Strong communication and decision-making skills
• Commitment to patient safety and ethical medical practice
