RMP Coordinator (Resilience and Mitigation Planning Coordinator)

JOB SUMMARY: The RMP Coordinator will oversee the development and implementation of climate resilience planning efforts for the Kiowa Tribe. This position is responsible for coordinating activities between the Planning Coordinator and the Implementation Program to develop and implement the Tribe’s Drought Resilience Plan, Land Use Plan, Fire Mitigation Plan, and Renewable Energy Integration Plan. The RMP Coordinator will play a crucial role in ensuring effective collaboration among tribal programs, external agencies, and funding partners to enhance climate resilience and land management practices.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the coordination and integration of the Drought Resilience, Land Use, Fire Mitigation, and Renewable Energy Integration plans.
  • Work closely with the Planning Coordinator to ensure the successful development and implementation of strategic climate resilience initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the Implementation Program to support data collection, project execution, and policy recommendations.
  • Assist in securing and managing funding for climate resilience projects, including grant writing, reporting, and compliance.
  • Facilitate communication and engagement between tribal leadership, government agencies, and community stakeholders regarding climate resilience efforts.
  • Provide technical expertise in climate adaptation, mitigation strategies, and land management practices.
  • Oversee the development of resilience strategies that align with the Kiowa Tribe’s environmental, economic, and cultural priorities.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of climate resilience projects and provide recommendations for improvement.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Natural Resources, Climate Policy, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in planning, land management, or environmental program coordination.
  • Experience working with tribal nations or Indigenous communities preferred.
  • Knowledge of federal funding programs, including BIA, EPA, and DOI climate initiatives.
  • Strong grant writing and reporting experience.
  • Excellent project management, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be able to pass a background check and pre-employment drug screening.
  • Availability for occasional travel to conferences, trainings, and meetings.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Primarily office-based with some fieldwork required.
  • Occasional travel to project sites, partner meetings, and climate resilience workshops.
  • Ability to work in outdoor environments in varying weather conditions as needed.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. occasionally.
