Location: Kansas City, Missouri
Shift: Nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) | Rotating Weekends
Position Type: Full-Time | Permanent

  • Note: Candidates must be comfortable with a 6:1 nurse-to-patient ratio.

Compensation

  • Salary Range: $35.65 – $47.64 per hour
    (Maximum rate considered for candidates with approximately 18 years of experience)
  • Shift Differential: $4.00/hour (Nights & Weekends)
  • Sign-On Bonus: Case-by-case basis
  • Relocation Assistance: Case-by-case basis
  • Recruitment Fee: 20%

Position Overview

A hospital in the Kansas City metro area is seeking an experienced Clinical Nurse Coordinator (CNC) – Ortho/Neuro Trauma to provide frontline leadership during the night shift.

The CNC ensures high-quality, patient-centered care and coordinates all functions within the unit during the assigned shift. Working collaboratively with the management team, the CNC directs, monitors, and evaluates nursing care in alignment with established policies and procedures while supporting exceptional clinical outcomes and patient experience.

Facility Overview

This full-service acute care hospital offers comprehensive specialty services including Level I Trauma, Stroke Center, Chest Pain Center, Orthopedics, Cardiovascular Rehabilitation, Women’s Services, and advanced surgical programs. The organization is part of a nationally recognized healthcare system serving the Kansas City region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide shift-based leadership and ensure delivery of safe, high-quality patient care.
  • Assist with admissions and discharges to ensure efficient patient throughput.
  • Monitor and evaluate nursing care in collaboration with leadership.
  • Serve as a clinical resource and mentor to nursing staff.
  • Support employee engagement initiatives (rounding, hourly rounds, service recovery).
  • Participate in interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and staff development.
  • Assist with scheduling and labor management based on patient acuity and productivity standards.
  • Ensure proper inventory control and equipment management.
  • Promote teamwork and interdisciplinary collaboration to improve patient outcomes.

Required Qualifications

  • Strong current acute care Med-Surg experience required.
    • Preferred: Current or recent Charge RN experience in Med-Surg.
    • Alternatively: Minimum of 2 years recent experience as a staff RN in a Med-Surg unit.
    • Experience must be recent (not from several years ago).
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (Diploma or ADN accepted).
  • Current RN license in state of practice (or active compact license).
  • BLS certification within 30 days of hire.
  • ACLS certification within 30 days of hire.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
  • Active participation in professional nursing organizations.
