Shift: 12-hour Night Shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)

About the Opportunity:

We are currently seeking a highly skilled and adaptable Registered Nurse to join our Emergency Department Holds/Telemetry Unit in Gilbert, AZ. This assignment is ideal for RNs with strong cardiac telemetry skills, who are comfortable working in fast-paced, dynamic environments with ED overflow patients.

This is not an ED RN role, but rather a Telemetry role managing patients holding in the Emergency Department while awaiting inpatient bed placement.

Key Details:

• Location: Gilbert, AZ (two campuses)
• Duration: 13 weeks
• Shift: 12-hour nights (7p–7a)
• Schedule: Self-scheduling allowed (subject to change); must work 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule
• Holiday Rotation: Required with core staff
• Floating: Required to Med/Surg, Tele, Overflow Units, and between nearby campuses (CRMC & MGMC)

Unit Details:

• Patient Population: ED hold patients awaiting admission (primarily Med/Surg and Telemetry)
• Common Diagnoses: Cardiac conditions, telemetry-level needs, medical overflow
• Ratio: 1:4
• Telemetry: Nurses must independently interpret EKGs (no monitor tech support)
• Drips (Titrate Down): Cardizem, Amiodarone, Heparin
• Support Staff: ED PCTs available
• Charge Nurse: ED-based charge
• RT Equipment: No vents
• Scrub Color: Navy
• EMR: (Details available during interview)

Required Certifications:

• BLS (American Heart Association)
• ACLS

Must-Have Skills & Experience:

• Minimum 2 years of recent cardiac Telemetry experience
• Must be able to titrate cardiac drips per physician parameters
• Ability to read and interpret cardiac rhythms independently
• Prior Med/Surg/Tele travel experience not required, but preferred
• Flexibility to float and cover various units and campuses

Compliance & Onboarding Requirements:

• Pass/fail dysrhythmia exam (2 attempts max, required before signing contract)
• Pass/fail Sim Lab on Day 1 of orientation (mandatory)
• 2 days unit orientation to Med/Surg/Tele
• 50-mile radius rule applies

Additional Notes:

• You may assist with ED patient care (e.g., vitals, IV starts, med administration), but will not serve as primary RN for ED patients.
• Business casual or navy scrubs required
• No call required
