RN House Supervisor

Job Summary and Qualifications

The House Supervisor is a highly skilled Registered Nurse that manages healthcare team members across all hospital wide functions during a designated shift. The House Supervisor participates as an active member of the nursing management team and assumes authority to manage all activities and personnel when called upon. We work hard to support the patients and families in our community while supporting each other. We are looking for someone who feels patient care is as meaningful as we do. In this Supervisor role:

  • You will have the clinical competence to serve as resource to the staff and be self-directed with the ability to lead others.
  • You will assume responsibility for supervision and coordination of all house-wide functions during the designated shift. Makes decisions regarding patient care and staff management using established policies/procedures.
  • You will collaborate with preceptors and new employees, and facilitate new employees in becoming part of the team.
  • You will assess the need for and assist in the creation and implementation of staff development programs to enhance professional growth of personnel.
  • You will facilitate ongoing performance improvement activities which correlate to the Hospital-wide Performance Improvement Program with involvement of all levels of staff on designated shifts as appropriate.
  • You will make assignments for the present or following shift to provide for smooth transition, ensuring appropriate assignments throughout shift to cover changing patient needs and staff availability due to absences, breaks, etc.

What qualifications you will need:

  • Current Alaska nursing license in good standing
  • Requires a minimum of two (2) years RN experience but prefer three (3) years. Leadership and management experience is highly desirable.
  • Associate’s Degree in nursing required, BSN preferred
  • Basic Rhythm interpretation class required within six months of hire.
  • American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support Course (BLS or BCLS) and Certification.
  • American Red Cross or American Heart Association Advanced Life Support Course (ALS or ACLS) and Certification.
